It's funny in other states you see Paul get 8-12%. In Virginia Paul gets close half the vote. I guess we know why Gingrich, a Virginian skipped voting.

Except that Ron Paul was the only other option on the ballot. That and Romney made absolutely no effort to campaign in Virginia. Even with that, Romney still easily won 60% of the vote...

Ron Paul can only claim moral victories. Those don't add up to delegates though...

Just goes show how Virginian don't want Romney.

Santorum would of won in Virginia if he was on the ballot.

Well Virginia, you shouldn't vote for Romney if and when he gets the nomination if you feel that way (I mean super stupid), you should just stay home if Paul or Santorum isn't the nominee...

He only got the 40 percent because he got every Santorum/Newt supporter since Paul was the only other option. Also as an open primary may have been some Dems in there trying to keep Romney from winning.

Many Romney supporters did not go to the polls ~ but I voted for Romney. Obama & Santorum encouraged Democrates to vote for Paul. Considering the landscape, 60% for Romney is OK.

Thats pretty true, all that matters was Romney won. The general election will have a different makeup and turnout really wasnt that high as people just expected Romney to win. Theres not really much you can draw from this that will be relevant in November.

Gingrich is no Virginian. He just lives in VA. So does Santorum, and many, many other former congressmen and senators.

Once these pigs get their snouts into the public trough, they NEVER go home.

There were only two people on the ballot. Don't get me wrong, I love Ron Paul but the fact is that those who are enthusiatic about Dr. Paul voted on Tuesday where people who support Gingrich and Santorum didn't vote. Romney supporters knew that there wasn't going to be a competition so they didn't show up. Ron Paul might be running for President officially but in reality he is just there to spread his message.

41% of the vote for Ron Paul does not spell good news for Romney. With the limited ballot, I would of expected numbers like 80-85% for Romney, not 59%.

I guess a lot of Virginians don't like that Romney is a mormon or that he comes off as some fake rich kid saying anything to get elected.

In my precinct only 1/20th of voters turned out, but Romney still won. I know some Gingrich supporters who voted for Ron Paul, but I have no idea why other than the fact they're bitter. Romney is far closer to Gingrich in terms of politics than Paul is.
