Rubio was born in Miami. That makes him a natural-born citizen. Period. End of story.
As for whether Rubio should consider the VP slot--if I were any self-respecting Republican, I'd run as fast as I could from being on the ticket.
Anyone here old enough to remember the 1972 presidential campaign: Nixon versus McGovern? The Democratic primaries had some decent candidates (Hubert Humphrey, Ed Muskie), but also had some who could have competed with the likes of Herman Cain and Rick Perry. Remember George Wallace? Wilbur Mills (and the Fanne Fox, the Argentinian Firecracker)? Wayne Hays (and Elizabeth Ray)? Ted Kennedy (and Mary Jo Kopekne)? And "Unpledged," who in the primaries got 19,533 votes. That was more than Ted Kennedy, Vance Harke, or Patsy Mink.
So McGovern gets the nomination and selects as his VP Thomas Eagleton, who--it was then revealed--had received shock therapy. So McGovern tossed Eagleton overboard and selected Sargent Shriver (making the Kennedy connection). Nixon won in a landslide--60.7% of the vote. McGovern carried just Massachusetts (I guess Shriver did help!) and D.C.
Point is: The 1972 Democrats were doomed from the start. And--regardless of my political leanings--the 2012 Republicans are equally doomed. Rubio would be smart to stay as far away from this impending disaster as he can.
