What's the story with that restaurant at the top on main St in fairfax. Some seafood and steak joint. Seems to have been closed for remodeling for years.

Fairfax and Main St. are both pretty big - where intersection are you referring to?

are you talking about vinnie's, across from the church? I guess that place closed down sometime recently. Shame, since I always wanted to go there but never got around to it.

Back in the 80's and 90's Vinnie's used to be in the Kings Park Shopping Center and it was a very nice family/borderline-nice place to eat. After they moved to that location in Fairfax, things went rapidly downhill. A remodel would be nice...hopefully, they are remodeling the waitstaff, the kitchen staff, their menu pricing and food sourcing. Who the heck puts in their menu "each table will receive 2 baskets of bread, additional baskets will be charged at $2.00"?

It was Vincenza's death that was the end of it. She ran the show and she was great.

RIP Vinnie

Thanks that's the one. Vinnies. Looks like it could do with another make over. Did Vinnie have any mob ties? Ha such a stereotype. Did he sell fur coats out the back to Sharon stone?

New sign up at Vinnie's. Cafe Italia II. Where's Cafe Italia I?

And in other restaurant news for fairfax city. Looked inside the former pizziaria known as Straw Hat. sign on door says store will be returning shortly but the entire inside has been emptied out including the pizza oven.

Oh good, Yet another Italian restaurant. I guess Vinnie's was Italian anyway.
There is a thread about the over abundance of Italian restaurants in FFx City that someone created when he had like 3 fewer Italian Restaurants.

Re: Straw Hat, I like how they took "Straw Hat" off the overhead sign in front, but left "Pizza". Its like saying "your name here" for the next pizza place to be doomed in that spot.

Went to vinnie's a few times back a couple years ago. I knew a waitress there and knew the owner slightly. have since moved out of the area. not a terrible place but it was pricey for some reason. Robert Horan, the former D.A. of ffx county if im not mistaken, used to get plastered there almost every night and drive home. he got pulled over a few times right outside the joint and the cops would just follow him home. must have seen it happen 3-4 times.
