Yeah, go with Amazon. You'll ALWAYS get a better deal than any place in person.
Same goes for grinders. Seriously, don't even consider buying them anywhere else - go ahead and compare prices, Amazon is always cheaper for the same or better quality. I've bought 5 scales and 4 grinders off Amazon.

Good scales are at the truck weigh station on Interstate 95.

If you are serious about buying a nice scale I suggest Old Will Knott Scales. I have had excellent results with "My Weigh" brand scales.

Gas stations have scales!?

Uh...how much weight to measure are we talking here?

Grams?

Tens/hundreds of pounds?

Thousands of pounds?

(or their metric equivalent)

Amazon has a large selection of gram-like scales. I have no real idea why I know that but THINK it's because this topic has been here before and I looked them up then.

Walmart or something similar undoubtedly has plenty of variety of scales for weighing people - about 20 years ago I bought one that uses a couple moving weights and balance bars - quite accurate and, obviously, rather long lasting. It may only go up to 300 lbs, though.

Weighing something like a car gets a little trickier to find - maybe a gas station or two in the area - maybe a place that sells wholesale firewood/mulch where they weigh your vehicle before/after.

Oh, I see they have something similar to what I bought 20 years ago:

Looking myself for two years and there hasn't been anywhere with a .001 gram scale for a good price. People recommended jewelery stores, but I didn't have much luck.

What do you need to weigh? Most post offices have a scale you can use for free.

You can get a lot of good scales by scraping the side of a fish...
