Good Emissions Test In NoVA?

I am getting my emission test done tomorrow morning. Anybody have a service station/shop they recommend? Otherwise I am just headed to my usual spot. Thanks for the help.

What's wrong with your usual spot? Fairfax has many test locations and you don't need to go far to find another one. Where are you at?

There is a gas station - it used to be a BP, not sure what it is now - just after the 50/29 intersection (on Rt. 50) as you're headed toward Ted Britt Ford in Fairfax. There is a Korean dude there and a guy with tons of piercings in his face also. I watched them help a lady push her old Cadillac into their garage one day & roll it back out with a passing sticker on it. They've never failed me there even when I rolled over once with a failed sticker from another inspection station & hadn't done anything to fix it. The dude with the piercings even gave me a soda out of the cooler one day free of charge. Go early because they get a long line.

Usual spot is the Sonoco on 29, in the shopping center with the Post Office(Centreville area).

What year is the car? If it is '96 (IIRC) or later, it has an OBD-II connection, and therefore, every emissions inspection station will be virtually identical.

They plug in to your car's computer, and run various tests. If computer passes, car passes. Results are forwarded to DMV automatically, and there is really no room for individual inspector variations.

This is like asking for a good ATM machine, like any of them do anything different than the others.

Is the OP 12?

^^^ This ^^^

On the older cars one of the tricks is to use a different car.

Any inspector that knows how to beat the OBD II stuff isn't going to do it unless he knows you, or knows somebody that knows you. And it will probably cost you some serious green.

Graham Road Exxon, corner of Rt. 50 and Graham Road, right by Loehmanns Plaza, they do these very well. Ask for Long or Kas.

Go to any VA state certified emissions inspection station and they will administer a "Good Emissions Test." That was easy.

Do you all not get what the original poster meant by "good" place? I would also like a reference if anyone knows of a place close to Great Falls.

You meant "good" as in will they pass that 1992 putter honda accord you're driving around in, with custom "wheels" but you can't afford to fix the fucking hole in your muffler. Fix your fucking car or keep it off the road

For vehicles 1990's or so and newer they are going to plug into your OBD2 port, there isn't much to fake or nuance on emissions testing. Safety inspection sure, but emissions is mostly electronic.

The best place to go if you are trying to pass is a location that does minimal repairs. If the shop doesn't fix what is wrong with your car then there is no financial incentive for them to look for reasons to fail you. For example, if you have a crack in your windshield the shop won't give a rats ass about it if they don't replace windshields since they won't make any more money off you.
