Police Service Denial
Posted by: native ()

well it occurs to me after many repeated posts by a large percentage of the "everyday' members on this forum that there are many individuals that are anti-police and anti local legal system (eh-em gravis), I found a simple solution that would satisfy both parties. You(the anti police group) should publically advertise their full name and address along with a drivers license number(or mental institution number in gravis' case) to allow the local authorities not to respond to the calls and needs of those particular citizens. Since the police according to that group is nothing but immoral state employees paid by tax payers money then perhaps the police will find someone elso to be in assistance of at the time of need and maybe the anti police group will find their own way to defend themselfs. Please post your full contact informationa and I will gladly forward that info to the local police department for absolutely FREE!!!

As usual, another dumb post by native... one that isn't very well thought out. The people who have a problem with police activity here don't have a problem when they call the police... it is when the police unjustifiably call THEM.

No one usually has a problem when the police are doing their job. It's the stuff that the police sometimes do that ISN'T their job or actions that are beyond the scope of reason.

Sounds great, this also makes us exempt from police services like speeding tickets etc...?

if you have done absolutely nothing wrong then you should have nothing to worry about. If the cops are "bothering" you the chances are you fucked up. In my whole entire life have I ever had a police officer randomly knocking on my door and accuse me of anything. If the cops are "bothering" you or looking for you the chances are you did something wrong.

You've got a deal. I will send you my name and address to an email address you post here. Couple of conditions though. If I don't use them, I don't want to pay for them. There are appoximately 1,010,443 persons living in Fairfax County. The FY '08 police budget is $145,506,307. That is about $144 per person in the county. I live in a household of 4. Get a committment from the county to cut me a check for $576, or reduce that amount off of my property taces and you have got yourself a deal. Don't worry, I will still pay my tickets and whatnot. I am only half kidding here. See, I really don't use the police. In the eight years I have lived in Fairfax, I have called them exactly twice. Both times the police failed to deliver adequate service. In addition to that, I have read in newspapers and seen on TV reports about a Fairfax officer using police resources to aid and abet either a terrorist or immigration violator, an officer stalk his exgirlfriend, and an officer killing an unarmed man during a routine warrant service, to name a few. I have personally witnessed them unneccesarily and recklessly damage their vehicles and other county property. Are they made to reimburse the taxpayer for all of their bonehead moves? Actually, now that I am thinking about it, I don't need the sheriff's office either. They have rapists and kiddie porn lovers in their ranks. The total budget for public safety, less fire and rescue, is $260,616,284. That is a cost of $257.92 per head. I will be expecting my families amount to be $1031.69. If these despicable activities committed by so called law enforcement officers sit well with you, I have to wonder how you think this is a good use of your tax dollars.

ok, you cannot judge a whole entire company by a few bad employees. The same goes for the police department. For every bad incident that make the news I can name 1000 good acts that are never mentioned and some are even unoticed. It is always easy to point out one's flaws but why is it so difficult to point out the good in people. You also have to remember that many and most police officers have to work weekends, so while you are getting wasted on the Friday night, the police is scoping the street looking for drunk drivers. I can only imagine the death and accident rate increase should the police not be involved and took a day off for just one day. I am glad to sponsor the police force. You also have to remember that out of that $145.xxxxxx number you pulled is not all tax sponsored. Tickets and summons play a major role of that number. I am sorry sir but a check for $1031.69 will not be issued to you this year. Look at the list of qualifications and the process it takes for one to even become a police officer. I can guarantee you that 97.5% of people on this forum would not even make the cut. 100% of the police officers that I have dealt with were honest hard working people that took went an extra mile to help me out whenever needed.

I am not judging an entire unit based on a few bad people. Well, OK, it is part of the equation. I am also judging them based on the reactions the management of the department has towards those bad apples. I am certain the vast majority of officers in the county would not behave in a reprehensible manner. However, when those that do behave deplorably get minimal sanctions, the department as a whole needs to be called into question. They are not above the law. They work for me and you to enforce our laws fairly - even if it applies to them. The police recieve numerous praises in accolades, maybe not in this forum, but in the media and other forums they do. As a taxpayer, I am pissed when these officers break the law and nothing happens. I don't want to open a can of worms here, but downtown there is a memorial for law enforcement officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice. Don't get me wrong, that is a deserved tribute to these fallen men and women, but where is the tribute to those who have been the victims of police brutality and murder/manslaughter? Maybe I am setting a higher standard, but shouldn't we all be setting a higher standard for them? After all, we are taught to respect and comply with law enforcement. They have a tremendous amount of power. Couple that power with a sidearm, I want the most honorable and upstanding people in those positions. When they break the law, their brothers and sisters should condemn them and shun them rather than rally around them.

I work weekends too sometimes, I have to. I don't get paid overtime, but work needs to be done. I will grant you this, police are on duty 24/7, but it is not the same ones. They work in shifts and most, if not all still get two days off a week. Many people love working through the weekend and getting their days off during the normal work week. Plus, they pay more for certain shifts. Many officers request them.

Don't worry, I didn't want to jip your precious police department. I already deducted all sources of income the county recieves from police fines, fees, etc. The $145,506,307 figure is the Net Cost to the County.

So, lets take a look at those qualifications:

U.S. citizen or permanent resident alien with application for naturalization filed and pending with I.N.S. - CHECK

Uncorrected vision not worse than 20/200, provided there has been at least 6 months success wearing soft contact lenses. Without soft contact lenses, uncorrected vision cannot be worse than 20/100. In any case, vision MUST be correctable to 20/20. - CHECK

Be at least 21 years of age at date of appointment. (Cadet applicants must be at least 18 years of age.) - CHECK

Be a High school graduate or possess a valid G.E.D. certificate recognized by the Commonwealth of Virginia. - CHECK

Possess or be able to acquire a valid Virginia Operator's License. - CHECK

Illegal drug use will be reviewed with respect to recenct use, type of drug, and frequency of use. - CHECK

Have never been convicted of a felony or serious misdemeanor. Involvement in past criminal activity will be assessed on a case by case basis. - CHECK

Be of good character and reputation. - CHECK

Have the ability to perform essential job functions with or without a reasonable accommodation. - CHECK

Have a stable work record. - CHECK

Seems to me that you would be hard pressed to find people that would NOT qualify in this county.

Ok, deal.

Fatal shooting of Dr. Salvatore J. Culosi by SWAT team due to "accidental" trigger pull by team member with rifle pointed at him as he left his house.

Start listing, and I'll be counting.

the last time i checked the eye doctor that was killed is not the saint he is being portayed to be.

in fact i believe he was being arrested as a major player in an organized crime bookmaking operation.

the officer that killed him, had no intention of doing it.

is there anyone here that really believes that the officer INTENTIONAL killed an unarmed man?

what happened happened, and of course is a disaster for everyone involved.

He still didn't deserve to be executed. The cops aren't judge, jury, and executioner, not their jobs.

They knew this guy was a non-violent offender with no criminal record. Why send the swat team? It was overkill (literally).

What lame excuse did they give? That the car door hit the guy's arm making the gun go off? Don't they have firearms training?

I don't hate cops and have deserved every ticket I have ever gotten. But, I've never called them (I'm pushing 60) and never will. I advise anyone to do everything in their power not to have any face-to-face with the cops.

There is a cop "mentality" of us vs. them. There's only two kinds of people to the cops. There's themselves (cops) and the "dirtbags" (everybody else). Maybe it has to be that way, due to the dangers of the job, I don't know.

Doesn't rise to the level of killing before arresting, and no matter what the truth behind his crimes are, this was a "bad" police incident that I have cited answering "native"s challenge. I await the 1000 good stories, I guess this is going to be a long thread!

The 1,000 good stories might be tough to produce, but ONLY because the media doesn't report the good people do, they only report the bad.

But native said he would post storied that were unnoticed... I assume he works for the press or something and has all the stories from the cutting room floor that were not published.

I was nice and only posted one bad story. I could have posted five and put him on the hook for 5000 but I didn't.
