The monstrosity at 28 & Willard
Posted by: trogdor! ()

WTF were they thinking when they drew up plans for the new Long & Foster building at 28 & Willard? That place looks like a cross between a prison and a hospital for the criminally insane. And why is it so freaking ginormous? Is L & F making *that* much money? Just in time for the real estate crash too. What a waste of soccer fields.

I heard that's where all the South Lakes minority students were going to be corralled and schooled.

I'm glad someone started this thread. We needed a new mystery building to talk about now that the cat's out of the bag on Alto Plaza.

We never did figure out that Filmdex thingee though.....

Regarding Filmdex and Ida Slattery (President), I found this:

wonder if its her? if the company was inc in 1955, it could be?

as i've heard, that building is a "monument to themselves." meaning the founders of L&F.

I decided a while ago that the less I know about filmdex, the better off I am in general.

Honestly, I really believe the new L&F has more square footage than Udvar-Hazey.

They need to put the next defunct shuttle in there.

Is place still freaking empty? I never see any cars there but it's lit up at night. It must be incredibly expensive to just have that building sitting there...empty.

Maybe FFX County can purchase it cheap and turn it into the low rent apartments they're always talking about.

It is supposed to look like it belongs in Colonial Williamsburg.

But, yeah, it is a monstrosity. It is out of proportion for the lot and for a colonial design. It just appears cold and monolithic.

I think last time I went by there I saw signs to rent out some of the space in the building.

Maybe the FFC school board could buy it and label it as Gatehouse III

LONG AND FOSTER AND THEIR AGENTS ARE RIP OFF ARTISTS.

DONT TRUST THEM FOR ANYTHING

EVEN IF YOU BUY A HOME WITH ANOTHER AGENT AND L&F is SELLER'S AGENT - THEY TRY AND GET BUYER TO PAY DOC FEES of LIKE $200

REAL ESTATE AGENT's NEED THEIR WINGS CLIPPED - CONTINUE NEGOTIATING THEM DOWN - THEY ARE NOT WORTH IT

Heh I have brought clients looking for space to that building. They all have the same reaction as this thread. Utterly garish! My favorite is the brick Parking Garage and the teeny tiny dormers on the roof.

Its pretty inside but the exterior is really bad. Prices are in the mid 30's per rentable square foot to - lol.

Here is a pic of the building I happened to take yesterday.

The "similar" building you can see to the left of L&F is a parking garage.

Mid-30s per sq ft? No wonder it's empty... we just got 30,000 sq ft just up the road at I think around 25.

That $86 million building was modeled after the Governor's Palace in Colonial Williamsburg.

Interesting article. I didn't know the Washington Post owned that land before. They sold it at just the right time.

And $86 millon. LOL. That was a huge mistake.

Aside from the Long and Foster building, just down Willard before you hit Stonecroft Blvd, they have started to clear land. It's a decent chunk, too. It's on the corner, across from the Auto Shop and Bowling Alley. Anyone know what's going in right there?

The land right across Willard from the bowling alley and across Stonecroft from the autoshop is owned by the Mormon Church.

WTF is up with all these new churches anyway? A new mega church is popping up every day...down the Parkway, down Braddock Road, etc.

Because we need to attract more immigrants to the area.
