That a joint subcommittee be established to study the potential revenue impact on the Commonwealth of legalizing the sale and use of marijuana

LOL

Blessed are the murderous.

Not so fast there 420, it's just a bill right now. It's been filed and referred to the Committee on Rules. I doubt it'll be reported out considering there's only one "patron".

Even if it does get reported out of committee and passes a house vote, all that ends up happening is that funding is allocated for a bunch of folks to look at it and talk about it. Don't expect any legalized distribution of marijuana anytime soon...

Unacceptable, unbelievable.

Think of all the money and time our dozens of local police agencies would save! What will those cops do with themselves. God forbid they might be able to make do with less funding if this thing ever gets traction.

We need to protect our phooney balooney jobs gentlemen. Harrumph harrumph.

I didn't get a harrumph from that guy.

Give the governor a harrumph.

Harrumph

watch your ass.

Is this some sort of early April Fool's gag? I'm not a smoker, but I'm all for legalizing marijuana and taxing it like cigarettes and liquor. That said, I can't imagine conservatard Va even considering this.

Legalize casino gambling. Charlestown hands over millions to the West Virginia treasury. Much of it from Virginia curtomers.

It's funny - though I fairly strongly believe that all drugs should be legalized, then treated as the social problem they are/can be, I am totally indifferent to this latest "news".

BTW - not sure why anyone would introduce this since, IMHO, it's a guaranteed loss thus NOT a "good" datapoint for someone's legislative record.

Indeed. Casino Gambling is the greatest thing ever to happen for education.
It creates many jobs and is highly taxed.

I think I put a good amount of money into a school near you.If ya live in WV.

Unbelievable.....sort of makes sense considering va has produced tobacco all these years. Pot, for many, isn't an addiction or "problem", just no different then all people that go home and drink their wine/beer/whatever. Va would see a big revenue increase and save $$$$$ on unnecessary law enforcement and imprisonment.

It won't happen. Why not? Big tobacco, big alcohol and big pharmaceuticals. These entities fund programs like The Partnership for a Drug Free America ("this is your brain on drugs").

In time.

You can slow progress, and sometimes you can even reverse progress, but you can never STOP progress.

Shut the fuck up and go cry somewhere else you lil bitch, get your god damn head out of your ass and maybe you'll actually realize what the true potential of marijuana is. Naive Dumbasses like you make me sick. If you don't like it JUST DON'T SMOKE IT!, but just because you have something against marijuana doesnt mean you should slander people for thinking differently than you, you prejudice prick. That is all, good day

you've gotta be fucking kidding me, Tobacco companies which sell cancerous cigarettes and other nicotine (a seriously harmful drug) products and big alcohol companies which sell alcohol (also a drug) as well as pharmaceutical companies (which produce drugs) all fund the Drug Free America program when their products cause many thousands of deaths each year? Well Damn, if thats not the most bullshit, hypocritical crap I've heard in my life. America is more hopeless than i had ever thought possible. Fuck our government and all those companies too.

It's the wave of the future and we could always use the tax revenue.

I watched "Weed Country" last night and those plants can be very beautiful if grown right.

If Va. did it for taxes they probably wouldn't allow people to grow it around their property though.

I couldn't care less if they make it legal unless we're allowed to grow our own. I'd plant it all around my property so I could get a little revenge on the deer that plunder my gardens every year.
