Anyone know of great thrift and antique shops in the area. I already know of good will and yesturdays rose on main st and a couple shops in Vienna. I'm looking specifically for antiques and interesting prices to add to my collection. Any fellow thrifters out there??? Thanks!

A large antique shop has opened in Clifton on Main St. A small thrift store is three stores down.

This can be a pretty helpful website to find thrift stores (though not antique stores) in your zip code and many of the listed stores have comments and reviews for them so you can figure out which ones to hit up and which ones to pass on. Also useful if you ever want to thrift in another town or state you aren't as familiar with shopping-wise.

There is a large thrift store named Unique in Merrifield which has a lot of stuff. There's a Salvation Army store on Balls Ford Rd. in Manassas.

If you're willing to travel, I recommend the open air flea markets. There's a good one in Harper's Ferry, WV which runs from March thru November on weekends.

There's another large open air flea market in White Post that I think is every weekend, called Shen Valley Flea Market. The Shen Valley one seems a little more commercialized and it's reflected in the prices. I like the Harpers Ferry market better, but you'll have to wait until March for it to re-open.

You can also try the Strasburg Emporium, I stumbled on it online but have never been to it.

Also the DC Big Flea at the Dulles Expo Center was just this weekend.

I've been to the DC Big Flea once and the vendor's didn't seem interested in haggling at all, and I've seen better quality stuff at the flea markets for a fraction of what these vendors were asking.

Pennywise in Vienna on Church Street.

Re-Find on Maple Avenue in Vienna.

Innova Fairfax Hospital Thrift in Bowl America shopping center, Fairfax Circle.

If you are willing to drive a bit further, I recommend another hospital auxiliary-run store (but can't think of the name) in downtown Springfield, Kmart shopping center off of Keene Mill.

Unique thrift store is nice. Compared to K-Mart, it looks like Nordrstroms.

7-11 compared to K-Mart looks like Nordstroms too.

I understand the reason for the move, a lot lower rent, but the new Yesterdays Rose location just ain't thick enough for me. Been 4 times since the move. I went to old Yesterdays Rose primarily for records and frankly the new location has less or not as interesting a selection. bummer i hate change

Unique in Merrifield seems to draw a lot less folks than in its intial years.
I still find the selection fairly decent but I guess so many other thrift stores in the area that crowds have been siphoned off.

Pennywise, the grandmammie of thrift stores in these parts, has always baffled me. From its infrequent hours of operation to what i generally found to be an incredibly dull collection of stuff.

Salvation Army store in Manassas. Yuck! way too big for my taste and crappy selection in records and books. Liked the old store location across from Checkers.

Salvation Army in annandale seems to be mostly clothing these days. rarely bother going anymore

Try Craigslist, you get better prices by cutting out the middleman.

wally pip jr speaks truth. Yesterday's Rose went downhill when it moved to the new location. Rose Two (next door) aint much better. Goodwill is the new black.
