What are your favorite things about this county?

As a lifelong resident of this county, but one who has been to many other places and seen parts of every state in the contiguous Unites States of America, I am pretty happy with the quality of life in Fairfax County.

From the roads I drive and ease of getting around, to the fact EVERY business and service is easy to find, to the decent schools, public services, abundant parks, and more - I love this area! Or maybe I should say, I love the part of the county we live in...

So what is it about Fairfax County that you enjoy most?

Personally, I like the fact that people here a more well-educated than most areas of the country. I've got family in the south, and I can tell you that the sort of ignorance that can be found in pockets there would never survive here. For the most part, people have common sense here.

Burke Lake and other areas of recreation, history. This area has a whole bunch of that. A shame the people that live here now suck, but otherwise, along with the traffic, at least there are a few places still to go hiking, fishing, etc.

The countryside here is really beautiful -- what's not paved over, that is.

Great, diverse restaurants serving every imaginable cuisine from all over the world.

History, history, history.

Diverse cityscapes -- from the city of the future that is Reston, to quaint Clifton, to Old Town Alexandria, to classic midcentury modern neighborhoods (Hollin Hills, etc.).

The mix of old and new...historical sites and beautiful old buildings to modern shopping centers. You can find anything you need here. Airports are close. DC is close. It is a nice quality of life.

I really like how NOVA has stayed true to its roots. There's no diversity here. I mean, thank God this didn't become a haven for illegals, you know? Oh, and the way the state really laid out ample roads before just aimlessly letting builders put up as many houses as they wanted where they wanted. Yup...there's LOTS to love in NOVA...

Smoke weed

Eat
Have a beer

Sleep

Repeat

Maybe throw a concert into the mix, every once in a while.

I like how drivers aren't affected by rain, snow, or accidents on the side of road.

I've actually started using Reagan Natl. after years of using Dulles. National is easy to get to from my zip and as long as I time my flights, I have zero traffic.

Airport is also great, esp. if flying out of Terminal A, but the other terminals have nicer places to grab breakfast, in case I am early.

I remember walking right to the gate back in the early 80s for flights. Terminal A is one of those original terminals, but it takes a few extra minutes w/ security and all.

Not that it matters, as I am happily married, but I seem to have many women smile of offer a pleasant remark about the day. Women, at least most in my area of the county are nice and aside from a few of the couch potato housewives, most are slim and fit...

Regarding traffic, it has never bothered me, but then again, I have always had a job which kept me out of traffic due to my early hours in and out.

The rest - self importance, blinkers, and whatnot, I don;t let that get to me... Like a duck in water, let it roll of your back...

+1. NoVA and DC women are some of the worst anywhere. Completely self-centered.

Hah, doesn't take much to get to you.

You're welcome to offer yourself to my mother. She'd just shoot you in the dick and tell the cops you tried to rape her.
I keep telling her she watches too many of those shows...

I did offer myself to her. I fisted her, then anal. She told me my tool is bigger than yours, whatever that means.

I suppose those insults would be clever, if it weren't for the fact that everyone's known them since middle school.

To the guy who likes the "intelligence" and "common sense" in this area...Seriously? Am I missing the sarcasm in your post?

Sure, there's a lot of "book smarts" in the area as people here are loaded and parents can afford to send their kids to good schools for 4+ years. However, book smarts are no substitute for, and can never be confused with intelligence or common sense.
Also, your definition of "common sense" may be relative to the area you're observing. Sure, your family in Dumbfuck, Alabama might not know much about global issues, politics or the stock market, but this knowledge is learned and can't be considered "common sense", as this knowledge is not "common" unless you'er living in larger, metropolitan areas where you're bombarded with this information 24/7.
I'd wager that that same family, when observed solving a problem without using the internet or their "smart phone", or seeing how they treat and interact with their fellow man, will display much more "common sense" than most of the absoulte wastes of oxygen wandering around this area.

ummmmmmmmmmmmmm.

one five minute bout of SPRINKLES and EVERYONE acts like they've lost their head. ACTUAL rain or down pours, forget it! SNOW?!!? ARE YOU SHITTING ME!?! Its not safe to drive under 5 MPH in a blizzard. But EVERYONE DOES IT. If the sun isn't out, people think the world is coming to an end... and even if it IS sunny, someone decides to be a retard and cause a 10-car pileup anyway! You, dear warhawk, must be one of these fucktards...
