It's not in Fairfax CIty, but if you want good walking, try Burke Lake Park. It's about 6 miles down 123 from Fairfax City...

Try Eakin park/rail. several access points:

-Pickett Rd, S off Lee highway by the baseball fields, parking at baseball fields
-Barkley Dr, S. off RT 50 half mile or so, road side parking
-Prosperity RD, S off Rt 50 half mile or so, small park on left

Wally, that would be Daniels Run, and that is the best park, at least wooden one in what's left in Fairfax City, that isn't developments, strip malls, and the like. Unfortunately, as you wrote, that damn golf course expanded further, I believe they owned that portion, but still it sucked. There used to be a rope swing back there, and all kinds of cool trails. Still good, but not what it used to be.

Absolutely, while the skate park and other additions were cool, it was like they decided to just throw every piece of equipment there. Its like the "Central Park" of Fairfax geographically and size wise, but you aren't kidding. Its just too full of stuff
