What does "1%er" mean in the context of bikers?

Seems ironic that the term is frequently associated with the wealthiest 1% of Americans if it also applies to a bikers' group of any sort.

I seen a biker next to me at a stop light one time wearing a big ol' 1% patch on his jacket. Fucker flicked me off at the stop light so I ran his ass off the road into a ditch. You could see the wheels spinnin in the ditch with his feet pointing to the sky,

1% refers to a magazine article from the late 40's early 50's where the head of a motorcycle rider's club was quoted as saying 99% of riders are law abiding citizens and only 1% are bad apples.

As such the 1% are identified with Outlaw Motorcycle Groups (OMGS) When you see some smelly fat fuck on a loud ass Harley with a 1% patch he is making a statement that he is some sort of billy bad ass.

They'll also have their club patch on their back like "hello Kitty club" and things like FTW (F#$k the world) or HKCFFHKC (Hello kitty club forever, forever hello kitty club.

Do the world a favor, if you're by yourself on a windy back road one day with one of these skidmarks, driving a beater car, please run them off the road. They're Oxygen thieves, nothing more.
