Help with learning to speak English.

I am new arrival to the USA and relocated to Fairfax about few months ago. Before that I lived in Syracuse, NY. I enrolled in adult school to take ESL classes to improve my englisch. My reading or writing of English is not bad, but only when I try to speak it. I have a very thick accent (I have been in the USA 1yr, 3 months) and it's frustrating for me to pick up the USA accent. What would you guys suggest is a good way to improve my accent. Thanks.

What effin country did you come from? Why didn't you stay there in the first place?

Hello Mr delutional, the country I am from or why I am here is not the issue here. Please let's focus here. If you really want to know, I am here to get an education and return to my homeland when my visa expires. But while I am here I would like to improve my English accent.

Why do you want to improve your English accent and try to be someone you're not? Maybe, we could make a trade? I could hook you up with some English lessons and you could tell me where to find the best Indian butter chicken in Northern Virginia. OK?

Go back to your own country, wetback! America is sick of foreigners.

Watch movies and TV and pay attention to how things are pronounced. Books on tape might also be good. Just talk with native speakers, it will take years and years to not sound like having an accent and even after years and years I can still pick up on them.

Ignore the assholes here, at least you're not a border jumper looking for wellfare but are very highly educated I'm sure and contribute a lot to the economy.

Post a photo of yourself so we can determine how to best correct your accent.
