Ban aluminum bats?

While surfing around looking for news about the General Assembly, I ran across this gem:

http://hamptonroads.com/2008/01/del-miller-wont-pursue-law-against-aluminum-baseball-bats-now

Can you believe they waste their time in Richmond talking about banning sports equipment? Legislating baseball? Making it a crime to use use the wrong kind of bat?

Metal bats pose a safety threat because balls fly off the bat faster than they do off wooden ones, Miller said

Here is your state tax dollar being put to great use. Remember this and all the other ridiculous time and money wasting legislation when they increase your taxes AGAIN!

Hillary wants a background check on all persons attempting to purchase an aluminum bat and if you want to carry concealed on/about the person you'll have to go to Circuit Court and beg for a permit.

This is correct. I am as "batty" as one can be and think they should all be
outlawed. Even wooden ones. Ban their manufacture too. Kids should be
reading The Manifesto instead of playing sports.

I love it when our elected officials decide to legislate things they know nothing about or have no authority over. Her son plays baseball and yet she doesn't even know that the vast majority of non-wood bats are not made of alluminum, they are made from composite materials.

Does anyone play baseball anymore? Maybe they should just ban baseball and turn all the diamonds into soccer fields.
