Does that make you feel better about yourself? I'm not sure what the job description for Prom King and Queen is, and it probably doesn't matter, but selecting who you vote for as symbols of your tolerance/progressiveness gets us the kind of incompetents in charge we have now (both parties).

Making fun of someone who can't fight back is the most basic form of bullying. Why not go to the local preschool and kick some toddler ass? After all, they're so ridiculous and all, with their ignorance and lack of awareness. Or you could talk behind some deaf guy's back, or make obscene gestures at a blind person. Why not go to a nearby nursing home and bully those old farts? After all, they're just worthless, useless eaters. They can't "do" anything effectively any more. The idea that Homecoming has ever had a valid purpose is laughable. Just another distorted popularity contest, where the semi-popular bully the background players into voting for the really, really popular, and everyone can cheer them for... well, you know, being really, really popular. If schools are giving people who are usually treated like third class human beings a moment in the limelight, and some positive attention for a change, well maybe at last Homecoming is doing some good.

No one wishes a disabled child on anyone, not even the cretins who express such vile, inhumane thoughts on forums like this. However, there is always a real chance it could happen to someone you love. And if it does, there is no question that you will feel guilt, and discover a profoundly different perspective.
