Chantilly Teacher arrested

Arlington County police have arrested and charged a Fairfax County Public Schools teacher and coach with attempting to solicit a minor for sex over the Internet.

Matthew Edward McGuire, 29, of Alexandria has been charged with attempted indecent liberties with a minor and use of a computer to solicit sex with a minor.

McGuire is a teacher and coach at Chantilly High School.

Arlington police say they began investigating McGuire several months ago, when he allegedly made contact over the Internet with someone he believed to be a juvenile. The person was actually an Arlington detective assigned to the regional Internet Crimes Against Children task force. Investigators say McGuire engaged in sexually explicit communications with the detective.

Detectives are investigating whether he had had any alleged inappropriate contact with other children.

Its such a shame this happened, he used to be my sons track coach and I never would of imagined it. He seemed like such a friendly guy and no indications of a perv. But now his life is ruined; and I feel bad for him, but it is disgusting he tried to have sex with a 13 year old girl.

Its disgusting, you notice the crazy kids go to Westfield (VT kid, Mike Kennedy) and the crazy teachers go to Tilly (sex guy and the drug guy) if yo urecall him from last year.

I just don't believe it,he was my childs teacher last year. I hope he never gets out of that Arlington jail, but what a shock he had state teaching awards and everything.

One of my co-workers is friends with him and just hung out with him a few weeks ago. He said he never envisioned him like this and couldn't believe it. He totally thinks this guy is such a freak now. it's basically an unbelievable shock to him.

From what I have heard child molesters are the most hated and disrespected people in prison.

He will be in protective custody while in the county hold up, due to the publicity of his case and the victimization risk. but when he goes down the road (to state prison) it will be a different story. Child molesters and former cops are the most hated people in jail/prison. they goto straight into PC.
