Obviously there are many people on this thread who have not yet lost someone close to them. Your ignorance only plays towards the kind of person you are, most likely white trash. Although must of you are only teenagers I dont expect you to be mature about this but I wish you could realize the sensitivity of this issue for friends and family in Fairfax, Harrisonburg and Greenville, NC that among many other places that he has been and affected people with his humor and kindness.
Derek Oliverio was a great guy. He accepted people for who they were and always offered a hand and a friendly smile. He went to Lake Braddock and then to college at JMU. He is native of Fairfax. He unfortunately passed away and he should be remembered by all for his charisma and charm. He had a dream and he successfully built that dream. More than most on here will be able to say in their lifetime.
My deepest condolences and sincerity go out to the Olivero family. I pray for your family during this tough time with many others. All the love in the world to Olivero family right now.

This is not an in memoriam Web site. Also there are plenty of the 'authorities' that post and surf this Web site. Many times they start the threads. Also since NO direct threats are being made to anyone, people can say whatever the hell they want, as long as no one tries to lure minors or threatens the well being of others. The 1st amendment protects free speech. Also, what the friends and family of Mr. Derek should do is not add fuel to the fire. (And no pun intended)

Grieve and remember you friend elsewhere. Also refrain from PUBLICLY posting about peoples deaths if they are so loved and missed. This site has a large following, and many times the readers could care less about you feelings and the of others, there is no law that states that's sympathy is an entitlement.

^ as for you... since you want to talk about rights, people have the "right" to create a forum to remember their loved ones. As you can see in the title of this forum, that is what it was created for. There are people all over the country who knew the deceased and this forum was created so that people who are not able to come to the funeral or who are not in the same vicinity as Derek`s family, could post their condolences. Harassment is not a right, and that is what has been going on here. I truly do feel sorry for those who took advantage of this forum and mocked someone`s death and his family`s agony.. it shows you truly need some professional help and that you really do not have much going on in your life.

If you're older than 15 and you still ride a skateboard and your name isn't Tony Hawk then you're a loser.

The sad thing is Derek dies as a result of smoke inhalation after an electrical outlet sparked, caught fire and ignited nearby materials. He was a great young guy, educated, from a good family and worked to start his own business and add value to his life, the lives of others around him and the community in general. I knew him through his good friend, my son.

The sadder thing is reading this thread and seeing the unabashed ignorance of all too many posters who hide behind a computer and sling trash without any conception of how it might hurt Derek's family and friends.

Derek and I worked together at Friendly's. We used to have so much fun. I was flying back from Tampa at 7:57pm. I was eating a twinkie and I looked out the window to see a house on fire, the roof was burned off so I saw the guy running around in his drawers. The guy jumped out of the house and went bad ass flying in the air. Even though I couldn't help the guy I was an emotional wreck and sadden for days. The guy was so young and such a good friend. The best restauranteur ever.
