Just had a most horrible dining experience at Benihana's, not quite sure what to make of this place. Reservations for a party of 6 at 8:30, after drinks being served, host/manager comes to our table to inform us that the kitchen closes at 9 and that we needed to order immediately...hours posted states closing time 9:30. The food was less than satisfactory....gross comes to mind. Although we had a selection of Filet/dog meat, chicken and shrimp, I sent the chicken back, but they thought it was fine. Rude service and probably the worst food I have ever tasted! Not sure how they stay in business, perhaps it's a money laundrying operation. Comments please and recommendations for a good Japanese Steakhouse.

If you want that "choppy choppy, flippy flippy" nonsense, try Sakura in Tysons next time. The food at these places is all basicaly the same (steak, shrimp or chicken w/rice, the onion volcano, etc), but at least at Sakura it was cooked properly. And the waitresses are far hotter if you're into that kinda thing.

The real question is - how much money can there be in the business of washing money??

Congratulations on overpaying for meat and rice seasoned with soy sauce!

But seriously, don't make a reservation one hour before closing. I don't think you'd be too happy either if you worked there. Closing up (cleaning/scrubbing grills/putting shit away/prepping for next day) alone takes about an hour.

most places close their kitchen before the actual place closes to prevent people from ordering and staying after the closing time. also never send food back to be remade it will get messed with big time. better option is to just ask to have it removed from the check and dont eat it

I assume you are an employee. Seems to me, closing time should state 7:00 pm if they would like to leave at 9. The founder of Benihanas passed away last year, my best guess....this business is down the tubes. As stated before, food horrible! I cAn attest, I will never return again. I will certainly spread the word.

Try Otani in Sterling...its right by the mall, across Rt 7. This place is my go-to spot. Great food and great service.
