Fairfax County Parkway

Has anyone noticed that traffic going North on the Fairfax County Parkway just seems to be getting worse and worse over the past year? It used to take me 20 minutes to get from Burke to Chantilly in the morning, now over 30. And in the afternoon going South it can take an hour now sometimes! Are they doing work on other roads causing more people to take the parkway?

Just be glad you have 30-to-60 minute commutes and not 60-to-90, or 90-to-120.

Its that stinking light at Popes Head Rd that causes backups all the way to Burke Centre Parkway for northbound and in the evening huge backups southbound.
There was never enough traffic at the intersection to justify a traffic signal

I know it has always caused problems, I agree with that! Just seems to be getting worse and worse...

Well I carefully planned where I live to not have a hellish commute like that. So, no I am not happy. I pay extra money not to live in BFE and have a very long commute.

I'd suggest you see about changing your work hours if possible. I have the same commute but I'm at work at 7am and out the door around 330-4pm and it takes me about 20 minutes each way. Plus all the schools are now back in session so the traffic is worse.
