WSHS certainly has changed since I was there 20+ years ago! Way to go! The judges loved them. Hope they make it to the final show. Hey, maybe if they win, FCPS will finally see fit to renovating the school!

Boys on the dance team? Dark, gothic makeup? "We like to scare people." The entire style? So very different.

Indeed, this is the same group formerly known as the WSHS Spartanettes.

The Spartanettes Drill Team (often called Dance Team) *was* a group of 40 girls - sophomores through seniors - who would perform at halftime at football games and basketball games. We supported all WSHS varsity sports. We wore cheerleading-style uniforms for our routines. Huge orange and blue poms were our only performance accessories. We did high-kick, pom and jazz routines.

No they are in the wild card round via Sharon Osbourne. But you could tell that was a really close for all the judges; I tend to think that if they could have legit sent both through they would have.

From the brief snips of the other wild card acts; the competition will be a lot stiffer but I think they are game for the challenge.

I hate the show and could give a shit who wins, but that was pretty cool.

Wardinski will never give anyone an Excuse absent. He didn't even go CA with them. and school starts the 6th so they might be done by then,

Tara Perez has worked with the Wizard dance team directing them.

"The Beautiful People" and "Down with the Sickness"! Those are the names of the songs that WS dance team in the wild card show.

When the West Springfield Dance Team isn't doing the Hip Hop routines, they are dressed similar to this. If you go to the Football games or Pep Rallies, the team wears black and bright pink.

Ryno78, which routine are you talking about? The routine that the group used in the Wild Card used makeup from the Joker; Dark Knight. Recall Heath Ledger?
The music was also from Marilyn Manson; very hard to put a hip hop routine to his music.

BTW, did Michael Jackson ever include hip hop into his music? MJ was so freakin' old and plastic surgery made him look like an Alien. A talented Alien.

They were actually one of the better performers on the show last night.

I bet that the Choreographers will be given tons of job offers due to this National Spotlight. I wonder how many of the kids will choose to go straight into careers instead of heading to college. A few of the dancers graduated with the class of 2011.

Last night was a repeat of last week's show. SUpposedly the show is on again tonight and tomorrow. No idea what the format is (ie., if they are performing or just doing background history shit for the performers, etc)

They should performs at CERT funraiser or be at CERT booth and signs their book.

All the kids are currently back in Fairfax right now; they leave later this week to go back to Hollywood.

The final show is next week; second semi-finals were this week I believe.

They are very excited and like all other gracious people; very humble about having made it to the point they are at.

The school is very supportive of their accomplishments and is hopeful that they will continue to do well.

To me the only sad thing is the fact that here we have a group of kids from our local area who are really just representing their school and themselves so well and you've got some douchebag in this thread who had to mention the food fight at WSHS from last year.

I personally detest that whenever you see someone, some group, or something be successful someone feels the need to bring the negative press back...and I think we can all agree that people will focus on the negative and not the positive first.

To no one in particular...whatever your feelings are on what they do (I didn't know you were so awesome and could do exactly what they do...oh wait if you were that awesome you'd be on the show eh?)...they have performed under immense pressure and demonstrated what dedicated people they are to their craft.

And beyond just that, I think they have represented our area in general with grace and elegance (yes I know they don't talk a lot on TV or anything but when they do; they aren't talking themselves up they are just thankful for the opportunity they have been given).

I feel its a rare breed of person in this current generation that behaves in that manner so here's hoping they continue to do well in the finals.
