How much for dry cleaning in Fairfax

I went to a dry cleaners today and for a simple women's blouse or a man's shirt, eithr one, it was $5.50 and pants werre $5.50 and I told them that was ridiculous and I would never go back. I told them there's a place that does it for $1.85 each for those same items but they said "yeah, but they don't really care." Anyway, maybe I'm the one who's been out of the loop too long. Isn't $5.50 for a shirt a little ridiculous?

The discount cleaners are fine for regular cleaning - shirts being laundered and starched. Also, OK for general work pants. I may not take a suit to them, though.

However, all dry cleaners tend to break the buttons on men's shirts when they press them - and, they don't tell you about it. So, there you are at 5:30 a.m. getting dressed and realize that there's a broken button on your last clean, pressed shirt - Mother F!

There's usually a disclaimer posted somewhere on the wall about the button breaking. Most of the good ones will fix that up for you IF they notice it. $5.50 is a bit ridiculous for a regular cotton shirt.

Obvious is... that's pretty much what the previous poster was saying. For cotton that can be washed in hot water, the cheap places make sense.

I took a brand new shirt that would have been dry cleaned at my regular dry cleaners, and it looked 4 years old and faded when I got it back.

Some places, if you're a regular, will reduce the fee, but the best thing is to take care of your clothes and buy good quality fabrics.

It would be interesting to see if the organic chemicals apply less damage to the cleaning process. However, on the other side of it, the organic dry cleaners seem to charge much higher rates.

For regular things , shirts and pants I go to safeway which uses bergman, its like 5 bux for 3 shirts.

If i need to get a stain out or repairs I go to a "real" cleaner which is more expensive.

The other day i picked up 14 shirts and 5 pants from safeway for like 30 bux.
