What usually happens at any level of government is that the Assistant Deputy Director for the Undersecretary of the Regional Supervisor for Department of Waste realizes that one their employees is threat to their position and must be disciplined. Can't have free thinking right minded individuals working on government.

One can't make a judgment based on this one process. However, the process is pretty long and will not always result in a positive ending. I think people have to have better observations - and if it looks like things are turning bad, then it's time to move on before it gets worse. That's what I've done a few times. I've been much happier with the move, too. But, I do think it's the principle that you're trying to point out - believing what is right. However, the laws have become so destructive, it's still better to move on as opposed to getting your life all tied up in a discrimination case that could carry on for 2+ years and still net you nothing but frustration.

That's just my view and take of it ...

What's pretty ironic is that when people file grievances such as this, they tend to stick to only one side of the story - their own. There are many other stories that fit into the puzzle. What does the supervisor or manager have to say? Sure, there are incompetent supervisors and managers, but they are the ones that are skilled to evaluate people (most of the time). I can see where someone who felt "wronged" would think they were 100% right in going forward and filing a complaint. However, I'll bet they never looked at the whole picture objectively.

There's people who get busted with porn on their computers, take too many smoke breaks, miss too many work deadlines ... or, may not even have a clue about the work they do, yet they think they are the correct ones and when they get their hands slapped, then want to file a grievance. Then, with their distorted thinking, they complain about the grievance process when it drags out or the decision at the end is against them.

This kind of crap is all too common.

Well...that is true. I've seen it. The fact is they knew I was right because within 3 months of my grievance they changed the procedure and structure of the promotional process, based on merit and knowledge, and since then I have been promoted. I've never felt I was "owed" anything and I've never been a "victim". Honor and integrity are all that matter to me...something that is in short supply...at least in my division of the county.

I don't work in the Massey bldg. I've been with the county 22 years at DPWES. I've also coached football at a couple high schools in that time(Edison and W. Springfield).

Had a meeting with his supervisor and this guy flat out lied his ass off. Eventually he was transferred to another job but still in Fx Co. That guy should have been fired, if for nothing else than stupidity. One of the reasons I got out of contracting was that Fx bureauacracy added so much to the cost of any project.

The sad truth here is we assume the OP is this grab off the net namesake. It assumes the OP is that person who made that interest page. I'd say odds are good it is OP, but being they are currently employed and not in the interview process, he may be keeping his job. That is, unless a shame campaign were started. (hint hint).

If OP is acting upon these urges, he is definitely not to be working with any children, and perhaps that is why an inquiry should be made into their activities. However, if the picture matches the actual coach you have a ringer. It would be wise to quietly compare and see if this is real or not. Nearly 50 years old and making $50K? I think I know quite a few secretaries in the Government making more money that that. I guess being a sanitation engineer doesn't pay so well.

Yeah, I thought all Fairfax County employees make over $100K with 110 percent pensions, free health insurance, and take-home County vehicles.

47 and starting life over so I choose to look at it as a new beginning to another adventure. I'm happy and have no drama and very little stress in my life. Don't judge all employees based on the tiny (microscopic) view of the Fairfax County government that this tool has provided by coming on here and posting. He has no integrity and no class. I've actually come across more hard working individuals with high degrees of intelligence and motivation in the F.C. government that I have in several areas of private industry.

Also, if you really want to see some slacking, disfunctional Government employees, you should really take a hard look at the Federal sector. There are way higher percentages people with "my give a damn is busted" attitudes in that sector.

Anybody hear if this sick Blankinship puppy has been fired from FHS (fauquier high school) coaching yet? I have printed out this thread and will take it to the school board if need be. I could care less about his fairfax job but this sicko has no business interacting with kids IMHO.

I printed all that stuff out and will send it to the school board offices in fauquier.

This is another group that need to be canned! One word - Disappointing!

Just wondering? If and when Fairfax county becomes a minority majority district, will the rules change? Will reverse discrimination become discrimination? Will affirmative action programs and minority preference be changed to better reflect the new minorities?
