Age of Consent

I'm having some trouble deciphering the age of consent laws for Virginia. Can an 18 year old legally engage in oral sex with a 17 year old? Can an 18 year old legally finger a 17 year old? Most of you on here seem to be pretty knowledgeable. Links to the law code etc is appreciated.

Just don't take photos of the 17 year old - THAT'S illegal.

THere's another gotcha that, if you have some sort of control over the 17-er (like a teacher), the act(s) also is illegal.

It's called adult in custodial or supervisory relationship. It can also be applied to correctional personnel and college professors in cases where both parties are of age adults.

The age of consent in Virginia is 16. 18 is the minimum age to be considered an adult in VA and many other states.

17 is underage, but the law allows consent if the age difference is within 2 or 3 years.

This is my interpretation of this bizarre ludicrousness ( In my opinion, any sexual contact with a sub 18 minor by an adult should be illegal):


If you are an adult you can do anything to a 15 to 17 year old minor as long as it's consensual and doesn't involve penile penetration of the anus or vagina.


If the elder party is 17 or under he/she can do anything with a 15 to 17 year old minor as long as it's consensual.


Anything with a minor under 15 is prohibited ( regardless if the elder party is a 17 and under minor).
