I want to have a wooden fence put in my backyard. Does anyone know of a company that is reasonable priced in Northern Virginia?

Thanks

How do you really know if you get ripped off buying an "invisible fence"?

I mean the fucking thing is invisible.

To Mary... Suggest you get no less than three(3) estimates from local fence contractors. 'Cheapest price' will be negotiated by yourself with the estimators.
Get the ball rolling now if you want the job done anytime, soon. Fence companies get busy this time of year.

Try these companies for starters:

Expert Fence in Alexandria- Good company and highly rated.
www.expertfence.com

Cater Fence in Vienna- Another good company with high ratings.
www.carterfence.net

Long Fence in Chantilly- Large company that built-up from it's roots
as long-time established fence builder. Lot's of people say that Long
Fence are too expensive... that's only if you don't nogotiate with them.
www.longfence.com

For wood fence... choose pressure treated pine(PTP) over cedar. PTP lasts
longer! Request each quote as; per lineal foot price with gates and/or options
priced separately to permit apples-to-apples comparison. Also, tell estimator's
what you need for wood fence to follow the grade of your property. If you have hills/elevation changes and don't want gaps between ground and fence (for keeping pets inside) you'll need to tell them.

Best of luck.

Lowe's will provide that service as well. My neighbors got a quote from them for about 100-125 linear feet of privacy fence. I think it was about 2 grand, but I'm not sure.

Lots of threads on this issue. I went with Carter based on recommendations here. Was apparently the right call.

Anyone have experience with Lions Fence? I recently got a few estimates. I was stunned that the three weren't even close to similar. Lions was hands down the lowest, one in the middle, and one ridiculously expensive. I've heard very good things about Lions, but agree with 'you get what you pay for'. Wondering why they came in so cheap.

Mary,

I would suggest going to the yellow pages or maybe servicemagic website to get a list of fence companies in your town. It would be smart to call several of them to come out to your house for an estimate. This way, you will be sure to get a good price and not get screwed over.

Check what they're using for wood.

I (not a company) fenced in a couple of acres last year with real oak. You couldn't knock it down if you hit it with a truck.

We get lots of falling wood around here. Make sure they use oak, concrete and 3+" nails.

If you see them using a nail gun, you know they are cheeping out on the wood or the nails or both.

Spring weather is teasing us. It's that time again for Harry/Harriet Homeowner to start asking about cheap fence companies. So, who needs a fence?
