is there really a need to spread salt and sand everywhere for a measly 1-2 inches? i can see making an exception for bridges and other places prone to freezing, but it seems stupid to go to all this extra expense so people can drive 55 instead of 25-35.

You know what I've noticed? Nobody panics when things go "according to plan." Even if the plan is horrifying! If, tomorrow, I tell the press that, like, a gang banger will get shot, or a truckload of soldiers will be blown up, nobody panics, because it's all "part of the plan." LOL. Not anymore.

Looks like the county has blown a good portion of its snow budget on this rain storm and the other drizzle storm a couple weeks back when they had those salt, sand, and plow trucks idling for > 24 hours.

From now on, let's say its going to "snow" because its not REALLY snow. So, yes it's 'snowing" outside (McLean) but its not snowing! There's something about the NoVA/MD area that when anyone says anything about snow or "snow" everyone goes batshit crazy and starts driving like a maniac! They should just say its snowing when its snowing, not when theres a 50% chance for 1 to 2 inches. Rant over.
