I have an MP3 dump of the show... how far in was this discussed?

I think it was between the 20 minute mark and the 40 minute mark, but I never heard him say the name of the site.

Okay, here's a basic rundown:

- He found site through Google but didn't give URL
- Said on day she died, someone posted Freda's speeding tickets
- He "has people who know some things about the Internet" and he would find info on the person
- Said he would post that person's info on their web site

He's basically pissed that his address was online and said if anything happens to his house he's going after these people. Said he'd smack the poster's face, offered to do it at the station and then the person could sue Don and he wouldn't care.

Acknowledged all the info was public.

Of course, now something could happen to this person's house and he has a public radio recording of the threat :)

Go look in the "Freda" thread and see if you can actually find the post from rstidman. It doesn't exist anymore.

Why this became an issue today I have no idea. Probably because Don was reading the site a couple days ago (and apparently read some responses on the air) and wanted to stir some shit up.

First let me say I feel bad for anyone who loses a loved one.
As for the radio show...it's got to be the worst radio program on the radio today unless it's intentions are not to make people laugh. All the laughing comes from their side of the radio. I remember when I first heard the show when it aired in NY (what a mistake that was). I listened day after day and didn't even giggle. Finally they were cancelled due to low ratings. I was surfing the web last week and decided to see if there were any sick looking babes on their website and discovered I could listen to the show on the internet. I've been listening all week and still haven't giggled or even crack a smile...UNTIL the man from Alaska called. He got Don to go whacko. Though the next half hour still sucked, it was the best half hour I've heard.

I am a strong advocate of the 1st amedment, but just because you can write something doesn't mean you should. I mean where is the f_cking humanity ?? Just because Mike Source is a personality you feel that all constraints of being a human being are off ????? Are you this cruel to everybody that you don't like, or just people in the public arena. If you honestly feel that Mr. Source deserves this treatment because of the way he portrays himself on his radio show then you must seriously consider whether you have lost touch with reality and with being a human being. Are you really proud of yourself, that you could actually wound a real live radio personality and get yourself mentioned on the radio. It seems that a caller called up and asked about don's recently decesed wife.Now for any one that might have a brain or compassion, I really find it hard to belive that your spouses death is something that should be asked by callers on a radio show, and should be left out of a radio show. This is truley understandable because if my girlfriend died in the same way I really would not know how to handle it.But anyway don read some of the post on this site. Don, -if you're seeing this, I want you to know that hearing that stuff ripped my heart out. I know that there's nothing I can say to help to heal the wounds I would, however try to provide some emotional orientation and perspective to this nonsense. It's this: there are monsters in the world. There is Evil in the world. It's just that simple.

And you say it's not deep? Re-read your words carefully and imagine the "sphere of influence" he posesses. His reach is great OUTSIDE his body, but inside, he can barely see through the anguish. So he reaches outside to find something that will help him inside. He has always been an "If it feels good, do it" type of guy, so that is the tool he is using. But this painful, destruction of himself is a merely "De-construction" process in order to help himself cope and come to terms with his new reality.
Ever notice how persons who have just lost loved ones can be interviewed on the Today Show or television right after it happens? Their reality hasn't set in yet and they are not able to put up their defence mechanisms yet. He's moving beyond that now and needing to learn to be himself tyhe way he always has been.

If you listened to the show on a regular basis BAcardi, you would know why Don talks about his parents the way that he does. They were mentally abusive and cruel towards him and his brother and continued to be that way long after he had moved out of their house. I'm sure that's partly why Don is the way he is now. According to California Law
Title 13.

Section 451. A person is guilty of arson when he or she willfully and
maliciously sets fire to or burns or causes to be burned or who aids,
counsels, or procures the burning of, any structure, forest land, or
property.
(a) Arson that causes great bodily injury is a felony punishable
by imprisonment in the state prison for five, seven, or nine years.
(b) Arson that causes an inhabited structure or inhabited property
to burn is a felony punishable by imprisonment in the state prison
for three, five, or eight years.
(c) Arson of a structure or forest land is a felony punishable by
imprisonment in the state prison for two, four, or six years.
(d) Arson of property is a felony punishable by imprisonment in
the state prison for 16 months, two, or three years. For purposes of
this paragraph, arson of property does not include one burning or
causing to be burned his or her own personal property unless there is
an intent to defraud or there is injury to another person or another
person's structure, forest land, or property.
(e) In the case of any person convicted of violating this section
while confined in a state prison, prison road camp, prison forestry
camp, or other prison camp or prison farm, or while confined in a
county jail while serving a term of imprisonment for a felony or
misdemeanor conviction, any sentence imposed shall be consecutive to
the sentence for which the person was then confined.

It further defines in Section 450(e) "Maliciously" imports a wish to vex, defraud, annoy, or injure another person, or an intent to do a wrongful act, established either by proof or presumption of law.

In your example of being in Nevada and lighting up a flag for heat, the only way you would be violating any laws with the aboved Texas/California mandates would be if you stole that flag from somebody else, then set fire to it. In which case you would be probably be charged first with theft, and then with arson. Otherwise, you'd be fine, even if you had a hidden message of protest attached to the act.

I began looking through Virginia state law to see how they define arson, and low and behold, Virginia's codes of law are written in a very complicated manner and are almost ridiculously specific to each individual piece of property that could be burned. A code for arson in a public building vs arson on private land vs that strange burning feeling in my nether regions. WAY TOO much information for the average citizen, but just enough to maintain job security for legal counselors.

In fact, the intent of my post was to strenghten the argument that ALL of the posts typed onto the servers of this site are exercises in Free Speech. To limit, censor, or delete any of these posts invalidates this site as being a Free Speech forum. Which would validate the fact that the moderators of this site are, in fact, practicing in hipocrisy.

I heard this site mentioned on D&M and have been lurking around the forums for a while, and I've seen both sides hiding behind "free speech". What you fail to consider is that with "free speech" comes the responsibility to use it in the correct manner. For example if I have Mr. Wiedemann's credit card numbers is it okay for me to post them on the internet under the guise of "free speech"? At what point do we draw the line between "free speech" and responsible speech?

I agree with much that has been said about Don, although I feel for the guy; no one should have to endure the premature death of a beloved spouse, and some of the messages that have been posted (Freda's Rotting Corpse, etc) ARE intolerably cruel.

But we live in an incredibly uncivil society, which has developed, in no small part, by the conduct of Don and people like him who constantly seek to push the envelope of propriety ever outward in order to shock and raise their ratings. If you can't be clever and witty, be outrageous.

As cruel and uncivil as he is, it is ironic that Geronimo, of all people, would not expect this, or would take exception to this childish, sophmoric type of behavior; it is his very stock in trade. If Larry King's wife had died, you can bet Geronimo would be on the air the next day, gleefully making jokes about her rotting corpse, with Mike at his side, chuckling and nodding as if every fart from Geronimo was a hilarious punchline.

Geronimo has made a living out of exactly this kind of behavior and has engendered legions of fans who have a taste for this type of cruelty. Is it any wonder that this should come back to bite him in the ass when the ox being gored is his? Hoist on his own petard, I think Shakespeare would say.

While I feel for him and his son, it is the ultimate in hypocrisy for him to condemn those who treat him as he treats others.
