Is Reston Kabob any good? I always see it when I go to that 7/11 but it looks very run down so I have never tried it.

I love the gyros at Atlantis in Bradlee shopping center on Kind Street, Alexandria. Not Fairfax, I know - but worth the trip!

Plaka Grill in Vienna is great. Try the Plaka gyro. The place was rated in the Washingtonian.

I think it's pretty damn good. definitely looks like a shithole from the outside, but i would recommend it if you like kabob. They're gyros aren't bad either

Sorrento's in Clock Tower, Herndon. Easily the best lamb around, moist, not too dry like most other places.

Maleks in Springfield, at Old Keene Mill and Commerce Street (same shopping center as Trader Joes). Delicious gyros.

i didn't notice a spit in that place which makes me wonder how the meat is cooked. the lamb/beef slices should have some crispy edges on it in addition to being moist and juicy. you cant do this in an oven or on a burner.

it doesn't look like they've put a dime back into that place in 30 years which would be fine if they did anything other than reheat frozen bar food. the menu is too big resulting in a lot of mediocre everything and nothing fresh. ive never had the gyro but if they are on par with anything else that place serves, it cant be that great.

gyros are like pizza or falafels or pho. its a specialty food, best prepared by people who take pride in their business and focus on a few quality items instead of trying to serve everything under the sun (a hallmark of suburban dining that is slowly dying out).

it should be mentioned that maleks stays open pretty late by NOVA standards. big ups for that.

Try Mediterranean Gourmet in Franconia Plaza, the shopping center itself sucks but they have good gyros there
