Which of the many parking lots around here do you loathe to drive in the most? In some of these places, you're literally gambling with your life.

For me, it's Lifetime Fitness in Centreville. I've never see so many people who can't drive in one place at one time. It almost violates the laws of physics. I have at least 3 close calls per month - mainly from people backing out without looking or coming around a blind corner too fast. Plus you have moms in their huge SUVs which are clearly too much car for them to handle/park. Then you have the 20 somethings in their BMWs that drive through like it's I-66. And don't forget the elderly people from the east/middle east.

Fair Lakes, Reston Town Center and Fair Oaks Mall all received first place votes also.

I go to the Centreville LTF but early afternoon when it is much quieter. I can only imagine how bad it is during morning rush/evening. I stay away during those times also b/c I don't like the Hollywood and Vine atmosphere! BTW, I'm sure you're aware Fairfax LTF is closed this week for repairs so his week should be even more treacherous.

The parking lot in front of the Centrewood Giant gets my vote and along with the bonus of possibly getting mugged as well. Also the parking lot in front of Grand Mart.

There's not much parking for the 7-11, salon, and drycleaner, plus, it's sort of a thru-street right next to an intersection. There's a Shell station right there with cars pulling in and out, and there is ALMOST ALWAYS an 18-wheeler parked in the lot unloading cargo into Trader Joe's. Backing out of that lot often involves blindly backing around the rig, into the middle of the intersection.

It's not a huge lot, but it's a mess in the evenings. I'm surprised there aren't more fenderbenders there.

Yeah, the front lot of Tysons Station is a mess too. I actually saw a terrible wreck there 2 years ago. Some idiot heading down 7 tried to make a left into the shopping center, and a truck flying up the hill smashed right into them. The passenger (a chick with crutches) tried to get out of the car while it was still moving and she lost her footing and fell over right in the middle of 7 while other cars slammed on their brakes. What a disaster. Luckily no one got killed.

i bet wyatt would have something to contribute to this thread. :(

The parking lot at the Fair city Mall is a crash derby. People prowling the lot for spots to get into Chuck-E-Cheese or record and tape exchange or trader joes. wherever. Ive almost gotten into it with jack wagons that dart into a space that is barely open while i was sitting there waiting for a person to pull out with my signal on.

The parking decks at Tyson's mall are pretty unsafe sometimes, especially during the summer at night when all the kids in their Subarus and Mitsubishis are driving like it's The Fast and the Furious.

Predator Obama: I think you are thinking of Pickett Shopping Center, which I agree is inmpossible. No way out but left on Pickett or westbound on 236. At any rate, Fair City Mall is not much better; I feel like I am in a bumper car pavilion.

I have to agree with that one. Its a gamble as to whether you'll leave that parking lot alive or not.

I think the market is an H-Mart.

I vote for the Unique/Great Wall parking lot as a close #2.

Personally, I think the 7-11 parking lot just off the Old Lee highway in Fairfax is a dangerous one. For one, it's a small lot and you can barely navigate your car around there. Second, it's next to the Lamb Center - where you're likely to get accosted for some loose change by one of the homeless loiterers. And third, it's a stone's throw away from the Lotte Market. That means lots of crazy Asian drivers who could potentially cut you off or run into your car when you're leaving the parking lot.

+1 on Fair City and Pickett, the whole area there. I try to avoid it whenever possible.

LOTTE Plaza on Metroplex in Chantilly. No driving Asians, Arabs, Indians and Persians.... and yes us white folks can't drive there either. The place is cursed. You risk your life and vehicle.

Wonderful food selection so go but park across the street in Babies R Us and watch your ass all the way to the front door. Once you get inside, there are even more hazards from getting killed by Asians with shopping carts.

I second whoever said the Trader Joe's parking lot off 7 (between 495 and 66).

There is absolutely no maneuver room whatsoever. The line for the light locks everyone in place (including many parking spots) for 15 minutes at a time.

If it's backed up while you're trying to make a left outta there (toward 66), go behind Trader Joes by the 7-11 and take the hill down Patterson. That puts you on Pimmit, ~ 50 yards from route 7. That light might not be as gridlocked.

If you're trying to go right out of there, cut through the apartment parking lots, into the library lot and hit 7 from there. It's never crowded and there's no light.

For some reason, Trader Joes specializes in shitty egresses. The TJs on Picket in Fairfax has that awful lineup where cars turn left to head south on Picket or turn right to head towards FFX Circle. Unfortunately, the sidewalk by the Total Beverage prevents cars from rolling forward to get to the right turn lane.

The shopping center at 236 and Beauregard Street (Landmark Plaza?) with Shopper's, Rita's, etc. is horrible to navigate.

Any Catholic Church after mass...

Have to agree with many of the posters.

ANY parking lot where there is a grocery store or large gym.

For example the Parking lot on Gallows Road where the Golds Gym, the Asian Grocery Store AND the Discount 2nd hand place. What a cluster.

Any church parking lot, especially Catholic.

Any High School parking lot.

Any Big Box store parking lot.

The Asians from more mechanized countries like Japan and Korea actually can drive. It is the non mechanized countries and people from the larger cities or far out small villages that cannot drive.

Asian women in Costco parking lots are only upstaged by the Asian women pushing their shopping carts through the middle of the parking lot.

What really kids me are the parking space "stalkers" that watch and wait for the spots near the store. These clowns clog up the traffic flow through the entire parking lot while they are waiting for the parents with the 3 kids to get them all strapped into the car seats and unload their overflowing shopping cart, they they either start to keep the kids from fighting or start texting their friends. All the while someone is blocking the parking lot waiting for the prime space.

I just pull in the parking lot and park as far away from EVERYTHING as possible. I have feet and legs and I use them.

The Fairfax Towne Center, or whatever it's called with PF Changs, REI and the movie theater is a gauntlet. More from pedestrians not watching where they are going.

I went there the other day, probably have not been there in 25 years.

What a Fing nightmare.

I left via the access road near the Library and was actually able to get out without much of a problem.

Someone on crack designed that entire area.

Do you mean Fairfax Corner? Fairfax Towne Center isn't that bad (and has no REI or PF Chang's, though it does have a movie theater).

Plaza America is pretty bad.

The one off Rt 50 directly across from the Home depot Parking Garage at 7 Corners. this is where "The Snipers" were in the far right area backed up to the Wilson Center School where Young Malvo shot and killed Linda Franklin across Rt 50 in the garage. and the place is "Creepy" especially at Halloween! It did happen in October... chills up arms.. keep his ass locked up forever at "Red Onion" down "Pound".

I was loading groceries into my car when some due in a Land Rover comes up and starts hovering. There are tons of spaces farther out but he wanted mine. Just as I was getting the kids strapped into a seat and a carseat, he starts telling me to hurry up. I unstrapped the kids, got them out and locked the doors behind me as I left smiling at him.

Heavy traffic intersections all around and a strange diagonal pattern of parking spaces, the worst.

Bradlick is the worst to get out of if you need to go on Braddock towards 236, it's a scary left turn and there is no easy way to make a right and then a u-turn.

Leaving the parking lot at the 236 exit you have to go over 2 lanes in usually pretty heavy traffic all before getting to the light.
