No more Texaco gas stations in FFX Co.?

I've noticed the Texaco stations in area have changed allegiance. Saw one was now SUNCO but most of the others have converted to MOBIL. Texaco pulling completely out of area? And I thought MOBIL had pulled out of area a few years back. I believe CHEVRON has pulled out(watch it) of the area with most of there former stations going to the funky independent names like LUCKY. Is EXXON/MOBIL thinking about selling its Merrifield campus?

Exxon/Mobil is getting out of owning service stations. Instead, they will be franchised stations. As to why you're seeing the Mobil stations come back, that's something that mystifies even me as I though in the agreement, Exxon would have the stations in the Mid-Atlantic and Mobil would cover some other territories (northeast, etc.). However, now with this new "mix", it really seems kind of odd.

I doubt if we'll ever see Exxon/Mobil sell their 130-acre campus that's officially in "Fairfax" just across from the Fairfax hospital. Well, that is unless, they start getting jammed with taxes that they think are not realistic. If that's the case, then they very well could pull up their roots and move everything from here down to Houston where the rest resides.

I haven't seen a texaco in fairfax in a long time. the only exception i can think of is the texaco somewhere down in clifton that kind of pops out of nowhere as you're driving along down there. somewhere around main street. i know it was there as of late this summer.

No more Texaco in the mid-Atlantic. Any one you see is misbranded and just hasn't changed over their signage after Texaco bailed out of our area.

I've seen a bunch of Texaco change into Shell and Sunocos. Shame about them leaving this region, the stations almost always had lower prices than other brands.

I wish BP would leave, I have seen some of their stations charge 10-25 cents more for premium than a gas station couple of blocks down the road.

There is actually a Texaco gas station on Franconia Rd in between Sunoco and Shell (used to be crown back in the day). For so many google experts that I've seen on this site, it's a wonder it hasn't been located by one of you fine gents.

Anyone remember the roller rink behind the crown gas station on Franconia Rd?

If you're talking about Davis General Store, that's at the corner of Clifton Rd and Wolf Run Shoals Rd. (quite aways from the Town of Clifton) I think it is a Texaco, used to be a Shell. Shit, I drive by it twice a day, I'll have to look.

He'll have "Place your gun orders for Xmas" on his electronic sign soon. Right now he's advertising concealed carry classes. I don't imagine anybody would want to rob that store!

In the Town of Clifton, there is an old-time Texaco sign, at the store next to the railroad tracks. They haven't sold gas there in ages. The sign adds to the look of the town. I'm surprised nobody has tried to steal it. Gas station memorabilia can bring BIG bucks.

Davis General store switched over to Shell today. And yeah, I wouldn't recommend trying to rob them. Hell, everyone I know in Clifton owns guns.

Texaco sold its refining operations to a company called Star Marketing (retained a 50% interest) many years ago. The retail operations that have borne the "Texaco Star" have, for many years, been Shell owned and/or independents/bastardized owners, and not company owned stations. Chevron now and for several years has owned whatever is left of Texaco. Sad, as Texaco was my first employer after college.

I believe that Chevron is shutting down, or has shut down, the use of the Texaco brand on stations on the East Coast.

Rory, that roller rink has been gone for years. It's now a lazer tag place that doesn't get nearly the business the roller rink used to. It's called shadow land or something like that.

I used to go to that roller rink all the time when I was a kid back in the late 70s to early 80s. Ahh, the memories . . .

Yep, Davis General Store in Clifton took down the Texaco signs a few weeks ago and looked like it had Shell signage going on. I guess it did finally convert.

That's because they have to pay for the Gulf clean up.

BP always had the higher prices. this was the case way before the gulf of mexico spill. and heard news report yesterday that a study of BP oil lines in alaska are very vulnerable to breaks and spills because BP is not maintaining the lines

There is a Texaco on Gallows Road in Merrifield.

Also the most expensive gas station is the Shell in Tysons off of Rt 7 westbound after the beltway underpass. I saw $3.09 for reg the other day.

OK - UPDATE!!

I drove past this morning and all of the Texaco emblems are stripped. There is a plastic "Mobil" banner hanging over the sidewalk sign.

There are clearly still Texaco's in Fairfax County, so the original poster and others in the thread are misinformed but probably just lying. They may be going away but some clearly still exist in the county.

Go on down to Annandale, aka the most scary part of fairfax to drive. There near the Fuddruckers, its on 236, is a Texaco. And they charge Texaco prices, thus a few more cents than the other guys.

Any Gulf stations in fairfax county anymore? Only one I've seen lately is out in Herndon in front of shopping center were the BLOOM grocery store use to be.

Isn't that a Texaco next to the McDonald's out there or they've dropped Texaco

Was on rt. 29 heading to Falls Church noticed gas price was $3.55 and made note to self to stop on my way back. 20 minutes later heading back the price had increased to $3.59. isn't that something

So the Russkies sold their Lukoil here. Nice. Less of their bullshit, and money going to them, big like if this is so :)
