There was a helicopter circling the area around new Braddock and rt. 28 around appox 1:30pm this afternoon. Along with 3 police cars two on Singletons Way and New Braddock. Anyone know what was going on. I normally listen to my scanner, but i had class anyone have any ideas?

It seems like the heavy police presence started the same time two people were arrested in the DC area for the triple murder in Newark. I read they are still looking for additional suspects. Everyone that's pulled over seems to be Hispanic. Just wondering if it could be related.

Dude, you are a LOSERRRRRRRRRRR. I find it so sad that the highlight of some people's night is listening to the police scanner, when we live in the most boring place on the east coast....And by the way, FFX county police bring that stupid helicoptor out for ANYTHING. One time some punk kid ran into a light pole on my street and they brought out the chopper for THAT! Nothing ever happens in this country people, shouldn't we all know that by now?

According to jerry connelly the illegals do not commit any crime in fairfax and if you think so then you are racist. Just keep those tax dollars flowing and keep your mouth shut. Thanks to his stance we can expect a huge influx of illegals from prince william and loudoun.

The Fairfax County Police and Fire departments both will bring out the helicopter for accidents such as that if the driver or any passengers have fled the scene. In addition to charging drivers that run from accidents with hit and run, the police bring up the helicopter to make sure that there was nobody who was injured and is walking around the neighborhood delirious.

Try to have at least a basic understanding of something before you criticize it. Have you ever been a law enforcement officer? No? Well then how can you possibly comment on the actions of law enforcement officers. You have no idea what their job is like.

listener said it best. We are extremely fortunate to have one of the best police forces in the nation. And, yes, I do wish that the politics which restrain their investigations would be modified to apprehend the criminal illegal aliens and to recognize that racial profiling is an essential tool (i.e., pattern recognition). Would you want to live in Washington, DC or Prince Georges County and have to rely on their police “to serve and protect”? Borat also said it best:
“Respect.”

You gotta appreciate the fine minds in Fairfax County! I surely do and Respect for pointing out that my allusion was not clear: Sacha Baron Cohen is Ali G is Borat. When I heard Miss Teen South Carolina demonstrate the success of her county's educational system, I was bemused, flabbergasted, stunned. WTF did she say? Kudos to the sharp citizens in Fairfax County. Great citation allivant!

Maybe they heard Senator Craig was making his rounds at public bathrooms.

That dam helicopter is a public nuisance. Every night it's up waking up the whole world over bullshit calls. An expensive toy we get to pay for. If everyone would just shoot 4-5 wetbacks each, everything would be fine and we could all get some sleep.

What is wrong with DC police and PG county police? There are alot of dedicated officers in those departments as well, and there are alot of shitty, lazy, corrupt officers in ffx county police....all pd's have an equal amount of good and bad officers. Just because dc and pg officers are not scared pussies like most ffx officers and they want to do REAL police work makes their department inferior??? I am sure fairfax county police looks great on paper, because if you people haven't noticed, there is NO crime here compared to other area's of the state and country!

Two elderly women murdered in their homes, still no arrest. I would say that is crime. I think Fairfax is trying to catch the guy but sometimes these things take time.

You write like and must be a miscreant. Read the daily newspapers. Look at the county statistics. Read the FBI crime summaries. You obfuscate the discourse with your generalities, faux, and immature comments. If you do live in Fairfax County, you are fortunate. I stand by my kudos for the county's superb police force. All county police services are NOT equivalent. If not already living in the cited under-served areas, recommend that you do so. With respect for those decent officers that do serve in DC and PG--you have a very difficult job.

The FFX County police bring out the helicopter if someone spits on a sidewalk. Ask any popo from a neighboring county.

hey jigsaw,

there is no crime in fairfax? maybe you live in the pristine area of clifton however have you taken a ride recently to mt vernon, baileys X, annandale and other areas of the county? i mean there have been two violent rapes in annadale in the past 2 weeks. so perhaps you should expand your scope of knowledge to beyond what the washington post reports. if you havent notices for whatever reason they miss an awful lot of the crime that happens in fairfax.

Well, shitbird, this may be the single most ridiculous statement I have ever read. Have you given any thought with that powerhouse of a brain of yours that the crime rate is lower here because they ARE doing their jobs and keeping on top of things? Look, if you want to go to where the "real" police officers are and the "real" crime is, why not move on over to Prince George's County or over into DC --- or are you are "scared pussy" like you brand the FCPD? Dipshit.

british english uses "re" for a lot of "er" sounding words. now, who do you think named the place, perhaps the british?

Nope, it was named Centreville after the revolutionary war. Around the 17th-18th century, it was apparently called "New Gate" before it was renamed to "Centreville".

No of course not. That whole area was filled with Rennaisance-era farmers back then.
