i'm getting some good gas mileage with 1/2 ton extra of chinese NICK NACK parts that aren't optional and 75 lbs of "wheels" added, but my tire treads are still too tiny for snow and ice!
steele is easier to shape in sharp curves (good for holding tire beads) and tires "don't make it smooth" - it keeps it's gripping grit. the tire does not smooth the steel. even sandpaper can't smooth steel (unless you work it a very long time)
(whereas aluminum, with rubbing, will become smooth and also worn)
since these "WEREN'T CHINESE OBAMA REQUIRED ON ALL CARS", i won't make a whole article on
BUT THEY WEIGHT SIGNIFICANTLY MORE, COST MORE PRICE AND MFG TOO, AND THEY DO NOT RUN FLAT. customers are angry when they find out IT'S A LIE.
1) get a nail in the tire you must go to a gas station quickly - the tire deforms and is bad on the rims
2) the gas station informs you THEY CANNOT REPAIR (all) RUN-FLATS, it's not legally allowed because their construction is "different" and brands differ they have no book on it
3) THEY DON'T HAVE THEM IN STOCK, so you can't get on the road unless you REPLACE ALL FOUR TIRES
4) just so happens france/usa/canada/china outsourced to another factory and that particular tire no longer made - you need 4 tires
i can smell your have plenty of gas, let me see how this goes here

MAG WHEELS SUDDENLY BECAME POPULAR ON ASIAN CARS EXACTLY WHEN EMISSIONS LAWS AND FAKE MPG STICKERS WENT ONTO ASIAN CARS AND (usa's chips were hacked to remove more efficient acceleration while china hacked in correct ones to undermine usa sales - in the auto chips)
USA CARS AT FIRST said "steel rim is better" (THAT'S STILL TRUE)
* mag wheels: they weren't and aren't light weight
the "originals" on usa sports cars were light-weight spoke type designs and very expensive
china defiled the design like pissing on a cross of jesus, making them VERY HEAVY - purely to increase sales. this they did while SUING USA TO PUT IN MORE CALIFORNIA EMISSIONS PARTS MANDATED BY WEAPON ENFORCED LAWS
WHY:
1) china mag wheels were MAGNESIUM, exteremly heavy, and a stupid design. they were super heavy - 10x heavier than a steel rim
THIS ADDED LIKE 50LB EVEN 75LB TO A CAR - ANYONE KNOWS that hauling dead weight = gas burned
2) MAG WHEELS FAILED EARLY AND OFTEN - a fact dealers lied about
WHEN YOU HIT POTHOLES THEY GO WAY OUT OF BALANCE, requiring more and more wheel weights (which from china are LEAD and poison the mechanic's machine shop - special vacuums are required to clean up the devil mess of it)
THEY NEED REPLACEMENT FAR MORE OFTEN - they look heavy beefy but they don't last nearly as long as steel wheels
3) steel are much better. light. mostly vacuous/empty. takes a pounding better (except if dented on wrong place, infact)
4) MAG WHEELS ARE 10X MORE EXPENSIVE THAN STEEL WHEELS
so much so - ford and gm began offering them, since, even though they told customers it was all a chinese lie? they couldn't loose sales just on not having them in stock and visible on the lot

YOU CAN SEE THAT WHEEL ABOVE would be impossible to "simply make" (it is not poured it is put in a computerized router than creates the shape)
THIS WAS THE HOT TREND - to use the latest machine tech to get Wicked wheels on cars. and it was a Pro-USA thing - usa machine shops
CLINTON DE-FUNDED USA MILITARY AND LOCAL MACHINE SHOPS - i had a 2nd friend who lost his job due to it. he was schooled in it, proud of it, and loved his job - and good at it. i saw some of his "self made motorcycle parts" he did for fun. excellent work.

because they aren't steel and how made, the LIP isn't as good. also they are smooth. THIS MEANS THE TIRE CAN'T SEAT AS WELL ON OLDER RIMS, AND LEAK AIR. leaky tires are in-efficient becaues they cause you to pull over and less MPG and also HIGHER WEAR ON TIRES which is really bad for efficiency
THAT'S NOT ALL (already said) - they bend easier and require MORE WHEEL WEIGHTS, which causes vibration tire damage and also is a problem as to leaking air
A SOFT RIM LIP PAINTED DOESN'T FIT THE TIRE BEAD WELL.
A STEEL RIM WITH TACKY BLACK PAINT CAN GRAB THE BEAD - AS LONG AS IT'S CLEAN (ie wash your car rims when you wash the car you'll be ok)

regular tire: 215/55R16 91H , about 20 lb

(today's "energy efficient cars" ad about 1/2 ton to passenger cars due to 1,000 extra chinese parts not needed AND for EV it's a full ton added. the accusatio adding weight is more efficient: is not true)
