I’ve heard that Overton is already in talks with multiple players from the schools around Hayfield. Don’t be surprised when multiple TC, West Po, Soco, and MV players are wearing orange next year. I can’t see anyone getting in Hayfields way of a state championship. Hayfield by 40!

Historically Hayfield has been a good job.
They sucked under Billy Pugh and in Roy Hill’s first year he took them to the regional championship.

The end of the Henderson tenure was pathetic and Aziz’s tenure was also pretty bad but I am expecting Overton to take them at least to the region championship this year

Westfield is not running the same offense next season that Vossler ran at Robinson. The personnel available at Westfield are much more skill oriented than ground and pound, and Vossler has already told the kids as much. It should be expected he puts his touch on things and incorporates his ideas, but there is no way Westfield tries to be three yards and a cloud of dust.

W-L loses an historic senior class and should be back to average seasons.
Yorktown returns a stud running back, receiver and relatively solid line. Should be the early favorite for the Liberty. Will be interesting to see if this is Hansons last year!
Herndon will be good and will most likely rival Yorktown for the Liberty district crown.
South lakes well… the great 10-0 senior class that lost to Yorktown at home is gone and I wouldn’t expect more then a 5 game season.

EVERY time there is a coaching change at ANY school there are ALWAYS a few parents and assistant coaches that are left unhappy for various reasons. It happens. Change is a part of life and you have to deal with it. Go back to the 2010 thread - there were people on this forum claiming promoting Simmons to head coach at Westfield was a mistake.

Agree with most of this. W-L and SL with be .500, Yorktown and Herndon will be solid & as for Hanson… You never know! We’ve had crazy coaching changes this off-season so ya never know!

Who is this “stud” running back? I saw them play last year and RB was not one of their strengths. They were a very well run team but RB was actually their weak point. Their D was really good.

Nah. McLean D was good last year but their best player was a senior and their DC is now HC at Oakton. They’ll be better than the garbage they were before the current coach, but won’t be a threat for the district. McLean last year was good *for McLean* but not good compared to any other playoff team. 5-5 is realistic given their weak schedule.

Overton has never had to coach a group like the coaches at Hayfield have had during Aziz’s time. He has always had an inflow of talent. It’s difficult to say how he would do without having the most talented roster because he’s never been in that situation. Hayfield will be great next year because they will be playing with a different roster not because of scheme or preparation.

Overton was at Freedom 9 seasons and took them from a team that had never won more than 3 games to Back to Back state champions in that time… You can call foul on how he built that team but he’s definitely been here before

Hayfield still won 2 state championships in a row, no one in nova has done that. Nova won’t win the state title this year either unless it’s Patriot and it’s debatable if that’s even “nova”

Been saying this for years. The woke admins hate competition and competitive sports. Especially football. Prince William Co admins ran Wortham and Overton out. And Fairfax County has done the same - surprised Overton risked going to FCPS.

Agree SB will fall off without Mickey. I’d move into Hayfield district and play for Overton, surely a lot of his Freedom kids will make the move with him

Robinson has talent just been wasted or recruited away the last 5 years because of the coaching on O. LB and Robinson are same talent levels but one is running a scheme kids want to play in.

Aziz was/is a good defensive coach. The problems with most of his teams was the offense. Never creative and had no idea how take advantage of his players skills. I assume he’s going to run the same offense Vossler ran at Robinson. He also like to badger and humiliate his players. It worked when parents weren’t involved. Should be a fun year at Robo.

Please name 1 kid that left Robinson and was a major contributor elsewhere the last 5 years. Also, wasn’t Robinson the highest scoring team in the area prior to last year?

Westfield did select Scott Vossler (formerly of Robinson). Not really been any formal announcement to the community at large. Haven't heard anything about Freedom. Probably too early for Stone Bridge.

Does anyone know when the official schedules get released? I know it’s real early and most will be the same as last year but Overton at Hayfield said Hayfield will be playing DeMatha and Rock Creek Christian so 2 teams Hayfield
played last year will have to find new opponents. Also Yorktown already has their 2024 schedule posted on their website
