I am in the rifle and possibly shotgun market and want to examine some in person before I purchase. Any good gun shops around here?

i currently own a maverick 88, which is a brand made by mossberg, but is cheaper. its size makes it perfect for home defense. i also own a bushmaster m4, which is my toy to fire at blue ridge.
what i would recommend is that you wait until the Nations Gun Show comes back to town at the end of July. that way you can look and get hands on (with some) the weapons that are there and ask all the questions you want.

I suggest VA Arms in Manassas. They have an excellent selection and the staff are very knowledgeable and helpful. I wouldn't go to a gun show to ask questions, the people there want to sell as many firearms as quickly as possible and are generally very cocky and impatient.

If you're looking for a shotgun for home defense, go to Dick's Sporting Goods. This week they have a H&R Pardener Protector 12ga with an 18.5" barrel on sale for only $179 plus you get a $15 Dick's gift card after you buy it. I bought one this week and shot it yesterday. Awesome gun for the price!!
