You're 100 % correct sir! Also being that he has been subbing for CBS during his downtime lends more credence to the CBS thing unless his remaining contract is being
bought out. Unlikely

Yeah he's more entertaining than O'Meara but I'd rather listen to Ron and Fez or Stern anytime. HEY

So true. I don't get the obsession with him that seems to prevade this site and DCRTV. I do think it is sort of shitty that CBS is forcing him to wait so long to get another job. So many in the regular listening audience probably don't give a shit anymore either way.

Anyone is better than Arrington. That moron butchers the english language on a daily basis. I heard him say that 9.5 divided in half equals 4.5, I also heard him say that Michael Vick's actions costed him his career, he also said its like the kettle calling the pot black. That's some pretty basic math to be screwing up, there is no such word as costed and who screws up one of the most recognizable sayings. It was painful typing costed, that one bugs the hell out of me.

Here is a crazy thought. O'Meara was on WIYY in Baltimore yesterday. Geronimo has been rumored to be looking to buy a station in OC. WIYY and WBAL are the only two radio stations owned by Hearst (based in NY). Don's cutting a deal in New York. Hmmmm.

Possibly. Here is another interesting tidbit...

Plane is delayed, because of a backup at the Denver airport (not where I'm going!) ...more from BWI later. Not a happy traveler, I am!

This was yesterday afternoon. Don may have been at the WIYY studio yesterday morning meeting with people, including Mike. Southwest flies a Denver/BWI/La Guardia route at the time of day he Tweeted that.

Sirius barely even spoke to Don a few years ago. The Sirius marketing strategy was built around Stern and NFL.

I will not bother my friend in NY and ask if Don is/would beconsidered. Last time I did, after Don was spreading rumors, I got a big "we have no inrterest".

I would guess their position has not changed.

Why? Because I asked about who said anything about Geronimo going to Sirius in this thread? Good deduction.

I was completely 100% (redundancy intentional) against the merger and sorry, I hate to call it Sirius XM.

When the licenses for Sirius and XM were granted (pretty much free of charge) two conditions were to be met
1) the two companies would market a reciever capable of picking both services within 18 months and
2) they agreed to never ever ever ever ever merge. This was made quite clear.

They did not come through with the first promise and then blatantly defied the second.

Can't imagine starting again with that overhead in today's economy. Don can go it alone or find "another Mike type" to play off of, for a lot less $$$$$$ I would think.

My thinking is if Don is looking to buy WIYY, he would look like a real ass if he didn't offer jobs to Rob(b), Buzz and Mike, even if he didn't end up back on the air WITH these guys. As for Mike and $$$$, the guy has been unemployed since July. His market value has fallen pretty far. I think if Don offered Mike $100K, he would take it in a heartbeat. And Don would have a justification, because WIYY isn't going to be successful with high overhead. It's also in Baltimore, which is much further down the wage scale than DC is.

Mike should turn it down. Right now his commute is about six feet and he never has to crap away from home base. Conversely, a commute to b-more is brutal from manassas on a daily basis.

Billing 8.3 million in 2009, with a power ratio of 1.47, WIYY is doing pretty good. WBAL billed 8.9 million. Even at 5 times, you are looking at 90 million dollars. You would have to buy both or make arrangements for WBAL.

Would you loan Donnie G half that $90,000,000?

WIYY is not for sale. Unless you show up with 90 million bucks - then they might talk.

Like I said, it is pure conjecture. I wouldn't loan Donnie G. $90 million. But business partners might buy the station and have Donnie G. as the managing partner. It's probably nothing like that.

I really disagree with this statement. Those days are over and I wouldn't think less of Don. There are people I'm close to from work (apparently a lot closer to than Don was to them, because they were at my wedding) but I'd rather start fresh if it were me. Their shortcoming are obvious now. It may have been one of the reasons he left early. If it was, nothing's changed there. Look at TV, you have all kinds of co stars for years, but when they spin off they ae usually alone if not always. I'm thinking Fraizer, (Cheers) Rhoda, (Old MTM) Elaine (Sienfeld) just a bunch. Why is it the public feels radio guys are married for life? Look at Trumble and Core, turned out that as successful as their show was, they had no use for each other. Not saying I'm right, just my opinion.

Trust me, it is nothing like that. But I do bet somehow, someway, oh - never mind.

With Howard Stern contract negotiations coming soon, Sirius at this stage of the game would not piss off the big man by hiring the fat man.

Donnie G. has more talent in his nutsack than any of the radio jackasses in this market.

Elliot - what a piece of shit.
Mike O'Meara - thank God he's gone.
Jack Diamond - what a tool.
The Junkies - they are getting stale. Have you seen their pics? Wow!

Wow. That's a letdown. Sacramento isn't even in the Top 20. It's the market where Limbaugh got "his start." What do you think he's going to pull down? $250K?

Shit! He's doing mid-days! Not even drive-time. Probably lucky if he is in the six figures at all.

Man, if O'Meara is holding out for a big DC station contract, this should be a cold splash of reality.

You know there was one other guy that started out in Sac-town in 1988 who just signed a 350 M deal a few years ago. Anyone care to guess what his name is?

Do you guys remember when Jim Rome was interviewing Joe Montana Several years ago and asked him whether or not there were too many "black eyes" on the NFL and Joe thought he said "Black Guys"?.... Freeking classic response on Joe's part thinking Rome said "Black Guy's" He was like all serious and shit responding that, "no, I don't think there is to many black guy's" and goes on to explain his position on that..... Classic

Looks like Mr. Geronimo made nice with the CBS suits but I guess not nice enough to return to Sports Gawker WJFK or the CBS sports talker in Baltimore. Or maybe Mr. Geronimo has bad feelings over some management at WJFK. I find taking a job all the way across the country so far away from his beloved Ocean City at this point in his life curious, yes like larry from the corner?

Why wouldn't he take Mike with him? Do they hate each other?

Maybe the reason the Sac Sports station's ratings suck so bad is because Sacramento has only one major sports franchise...and it sucks ass.

No money. I bet anything Don is taking a major pay cut to do this.

No syndication and middays in Sacramento at a sports station of all places? Good bet.

It was probably a rude awakening for Don. He was meeting with all of these stations and ownership groups and in the end winds up back at the network he used to hate working in a market he used to disparage. To me that's an indication that nobody really wanted to pay him what he thought he was worth.

For 2 years Don has been a prisoner to his no compete, all the time saying "I'll be free Oct 2010"
Now not only is he not free of CBS, he's in a way worse prison
I wonder how long the no compete in this new deal is,,,

The reality is if Don and Mike reunited, they would have a better chance for success together than apart

Couple of bull dicks,,,,

I honestly don't know if there is a lot of tension between them or not, whether it's one-sided if there is, or whatever, but I think the days of the old D&M Show are long gone. It just wouldn't be the same.

I think you can take Don at his word that doing the old show at WJFK reminded him too much of Freda. In that respect, this move makes some sense.

Don's new show will be available for syndication, according to his Twitter acct.
Someone better figger out that he's just keeping the $$$ for himself, not splitting with Mike O. Why give him extra bucks? I heard him today and he sounded happy and great.

I'm sure there is bonus incentives in Don's contract tied to ratings performance. Hell, if he turned WJFK into a powerhouse in the 3rd largest market I think he'll take a crappy station like KHTK back to #1 within a year. Talk radio needs some new energy and Don is a genuine, non fake personality that will deliver some good wholesome family fun.

maybe this is a stupid question, but is this new show going to be a sports show? If so, this is even sadder than I thought, considering I hate sports, and people talking about sports.

sad. Really sad.

I'll tell ya whats not only sad.....But who's a sad sack o' shit and thats Mike O'Meara.

I caught Don on KHTK talking about his recent interest and research into buying some crappy radio station in OC.Don said he had even talked to Mike about putting his show on after the acquisition.I'm sure this sent tingles up O'Meara's leg thinking he may have yet another gravy train slowing just enough on the tracks for his fat fucking ass to jump on.

Don wisely decided the numbers were not there on the station purchase thing then the KHTK thing surfaced and jelled quickly all within a few weeks period of time. When Mike caught wind of this I'm sure he was devastated.I mean here was his Bud giving him a little hope on maybe picking up his show, just to pick up the paper the next morning and read Don signed a contract with one of their largest former syndicated affiliates. And with the blessings of CBS. Who fired Mike about a year ago.

This explains Mike's sudden appearances on WBAL and 98 Rock, WIYY.

It's like Mike sat around for a year waiting to see what Don's next move would be and if it would include him. Don signed, Mike's on his own and appears to be running around town like a stray, scared and hungry dog.

I used to sort of joke about Mike doing mid-days in Roanoke. But given where Don landed, Roanoke might be too big a market for Mike.

I wonder if Don will consider bringing Buzz to Sac-town if things go well,,,

Buzz would actually make sense

A news guy would be more useful than a second banana (sorry Rob(b) )

Buzz could read day old sports news as easy as day old regular news

And Buzz could get a medical marijuana card and come to work high as crap
