Fairfax Co. Pkway closed near Huntsman Mon. AM

Was there an accident on Fairfax County Parkway this morning? Traffic was being redirected onto Huntsman, and Old Keene Mill Road heading east was a bigger mess than usual.

Any information?

I was driving the opposite direction on the parkway this morning (about 7:30am) and saw what's causing the mess. An SUV slammed into one of the support posts for one of the overhead highway signs and the whole thing was dangling over the road, looking like it was about to fall down. Lots of rescue vehicles and whatnot.

Thank you, Gryffn. I hope no one was injured. But what a terrible time for a driver to lose control of his/her vehicle.

It's part of FFX's new plan to make more traffic jams.

SPRINGFIELD, Va. - In Fairfax County, all lanes of southbound Route 7100/Fairfax County Parkway before Sydenstricker Road are closed.

A driver struck a pole that held an overhead sign. The sign is leaning over the southbound lanes on 7100.

The cleanup will take a while, reports WTOP Traffic Reporter Lisa Baden.

I was driving northbound watching all you stupid fucks sit in traffic. I rolled down the window and gave a half-mile of commuters the middle finger. It was raining, and i got wet. Totally worth it though.

Nobody uses the Fairfax County parkway in the morning any way. LMFAO!

The Parkway SB was just backed up to Braddock. Is it the same issue?

I'm surprised they didn't close the entire parkway. One side to use to fix the problem. The other side to park fire trucks and police cars to watch the repair.

Its the highway of death. more bad accidents per mile than anywhere else, of course if you are driving even semi responsibly, you can beat it.

It is a horrible road. Everyone in the afternoon would do 60-70 mph while dumbasses pull out in front of oncoming traffic at the lights. After decades of commuting to the district, I saw the worst crap pulled on that road.

So that was you? Actually I tried to detour down Burke Lake to Braddock but Braddock was blocked by two different accidents. Ohe had three cars involved that all had pulled off on the shoulder but the police for some reason left her car in the roadway causing even more of a backup.

They better send the woman the bill for the replacement of that big-ass sign

Have they identified the driver?
Lisa Baden stated it was a man wearing a sunbonnet.

The woman driving the Ford Explorer that struck the sign around 3:50 a.m. was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

How much does a sign like that cost you think? Does insurance cover that stuff?

I'll bet it was Lisa Baden's horrible singing that caused the accident.
