What I did experience was people getting their heads split, stabbed, and generally fucked up. For the most part the beef was between Black thugs from Richmond and Latino homies from NOVA.

I got sent to solitary confinement for fighting for five days at a time, which sucked big time, because there is no clock, no concept of time, and no one to talk to. Jail sucks, and is a travesty of justice, when non violent offenders are locked up w/ violent lunatics.

My dad has been in prison for 15 years. (prison but obviously he was in jail first).

He did get jumped in jail a couple times.

Stay with your own race and keep your mouth shut you'll avoid 90% of the problems. Jail is a cake walk compared to the big house.

Not sure about jail but in prison there are certain areas certain races control. So if you are a white guy and go to a latino or black toilet you'll be causing a fight then your own race will beat your ass for being a dumbass.

He just needs to keep his wits. Be chill, don't walk around talking big, or spouting trash at people, and yea, lay low. If he does it right, he'll end up being cool with some folks, and they'll show him the ropes. If he's lucky, he'll end up on the new side of the jail (If they've finally opened it), or the 3rd Floor (I think that's the one where they have more open space cells). B Floor is the one where you'll go nuts, with 10 inmates packed into a 5 person cell, and most of the roughnecks are there. The 4th floor houses the murderers I think (He won't be there, so no worries).

I know a former Sheriff of the joint, but this new Sheriff is pretty ridiculous (No chairs, No Sodas (Except for Trustees), No Soup for lunch, No usage of the expanded Jail space (ie, Cramming everyone in like Sardines), etc.). The old Sheriff was tough, but respectful, whereas the current guy in charge is somewhat of a prick.

He had better get used to the idea of fightin'. As you mention, he needs to go to the gym, or boxing, karate, whatever because people will mess with him, and he's going to have to stick up for himself. He needs to get a pair of shoes that stay on with velcro, because the first thing they'll do is take away his shoe strings so that he won't be able to hang himself. He's going to be depressed and demoralized at first, and he should know that it's just part of the process. Once inside, he'll be an unhuman piece of garbage in the eyes of the guards and society. Bastards will steal anything he leaves laying around. It's a big adjustment getting used to being around pieces of shit all day long. Also, guards will treat him like shit too. Probably something he can read somewhere about how to handle it psychologically. Also, bastards will ask him what he did to get in, where he lives, his girlfriend's name, etc. He needs to think about what to say in advance. It's be a bitch for sure, but if he's got some muscles on him and tries to stay strong mentally, it will go a long way.

Out of all these idiots on this post, only Benn and ThePackLeader are correct. There is no "Bubba" in the Fairfax ADC. Violent types are held on the 4th floor. Unless your boyfriend is in a gang, he'll have no problem with any gang member. The food is not great, but edible. He should ask to be a trustee and he'll get a few privileges, and maybe earn some time credit.

It's mostly the guards you have to worry about. Inmates, except for the career inmate types, are mostly straight. The guards and their career inmate minions are committing most jail and prison rape.
