Hooes Rd

Anybody know how Hooes Road got its name? Was there a Hooes family maybe that had a farm or some kind of mill? It is just an odd name so I am curious about it.

.. and how do you pronounce it... .I heard it as Hoe's for years till the development and new people came in.. then they started saying is as Who's..

Interesting. I think it is 'whose' not 'hoe's'.

But why the name? Was there a farmer named Hooes? Or maybe a person with a mill of some kind? A bread mill maybe? Or was it named for a nobleman who moved here?

I think it was a farmer.

Yes, but what kind of farm was it do you think? A flour farm or perhaps apples?

I believe it was named for the Hooe (pronounced WHO) family
