Okay, they didn't "choke," per se. But they really looked lackluster last night. I hope after the season they had they don't get swept out in the first series.

They seemed very slow and out of step. The good news, though, is despite their so-so performance, they still nearly won. Hopefully they catch fire on Saturday and clean Montreal's clock in the series.

There was talk this morning on WTOP and WJFK that OV may have had some sort of stomach flu. They said the same thing about Backstrom. Not sure if it is true or not.

Except for Ovechkin, they played well. Theodore was great. On the other hand, the Habs stepped it up big time.
I expect the Caps to destroy them on Saturday by 3 or more.

If you remember last season, Lundquist and the Rangers gave the Caps a hard time the first few games. As the series went on, Lundquist got exhausted and started letting every shot sent his way into the net. Like Lundquist, Halak got lucky and had an exceptional game. Hell, the Caps put up 47 shots on him. Forty-seven! If the Caps keep that pace up, he's sure to crumble.
On the other hand, we do need to teach the team to quit taking stupid penalties. I expect stupid shit from Semin, but Backstrom? C'mon, he owned that guy in the corner the first time, no need to go cross-check him as you're leaving the zone! That was stupid. Green's Delay-Of-Game? Meh, desperate people do desperate things. Don't get into that position again.
