there is this...

https://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/health/conditions-and-diseases/coronavirus/coronavirus-disease-2019-vs-the-flu

but the subject of the thread is fairfax county specifically, by the way, looking at the numbers for the regular flu and the wuhan flu, which one is the pandemic?

Get a grip everybody. The number of deaths are tiny compared to other causes of death. Let's look at Fairfax sample rates of death by cause to gain perspective:

Coronavirus: 27 per million.
Diabetes: 95 per million (1)
Suicide: 110 per million (2)
Heart disease: 794 per million (3)
Breast Cancer: 1243 per million females (4)

In other news, Fauquier County has the same number of deaths from coronavirus as automobile accidents: 1 of each.

Good perspective, good point, but you have one error, albeit one that does not change your point. The breast cancer error rate is 171 per million. See http://www.livehealthyfairfax.org/?module=indicators&controller=index&action=view&comparisonId=&indicatorId=94&localeTypeId=2&localeId=2900

The only thing of absolute importance now on FXU is Cary must remove copies US govt maps that were printed 158 years ago now protected by copyright law since 2011, all other topics must cease until Cary removes the offending maps of no significant importance other then freaks of history of Fairfax County such as "Map Ass"

Another interesting Fairfax stat is the number of cases per square mile. With 1476 cases and 406 square miles, Fairfax's case density is 3.6/square mile.

Compare that to the case density for the entire state of Virginia, .185/sq mi (7941 cases/42774 sq mi).

Fairfax is a hot spot.

Why does Fairfax Department of Health refuse to list the zip codes of COVID-19 disease cases?

Because “COVID knows no zip code”. It’s Equal Opportunity. They also don’t want a stampede to the stores in the low virus areas, buying up all the toilet paper.

Because it's racist.

Take a look at any map that graphically represents infected people. What do you notice about the worst areas? With a county map, it would literally show the barrios and ghettos as "dark spots". You don't need a map. You know.

Blacks aren't disproportionately effected in Virginia as a whole. Blacks are 19.17% of the population, and 18.7% of infections.

I guess Fairfax Health District got enough pressure that they have started to publish a little bit more detailed location information. Also demographic data. Mildly interesting that 45% of Fairfax cases are Hispanic. Wasn't expecting that.

https://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/covid19/case-information

Even so, how stupid are these people to state that releasing info by zip code would expose "confidential health information?"

Think about that - there are 28,078 people that live in zip code 22041. In what way would telling us that 220 people in that zip code tested positive for the virus expose anyone's confidential health information? It is nothing less than power mad hubris. What are they trying to hide?
