I'd be weary of beer from a drugstore. Seems like low turnover to me.
Not really. There was a Rite Aid in McLean Commons that seemed to survive off of beer and lottery ticket sales. It had a large beer section and better prices than Safeway or Giant. You never saw many lines at the pharmacy counter, but there'd always be a line at the lottery machine, and loads of people buying cheap beer. It would actually be full on Friday and Saturday nights. It was known around the neighborhood as "The Drunk Store". Sadly, it closed it's doors in 2002.
If that Walgreen's is in a good location they're nuts for not selling alcohol.
