On Monday, Montgomery County, Maryland’s largest county, officially joins the list. County Executive Marc Elrich will sign an executive order on Monday that will keep the area from cooperating with ICE, even though the policy has been unofficially on the books for some time.
“The Promoting Community Trust Executive Order aims to reaffirm current county policy and improve community security by ensuring that immigrant and otherwise vulnerable communities can engage with county departments,” Elrich said in a statement provided to WTOP.
The policy ensures that county agencies do not ask those who seek help about their immigration status, the outlet reported. Nor will these agencies cooperate with ICE.
The county’s current police chief, Marcus Jones, says that the policy is already in action. According to Jones they have no direct contact with ICE on immigration issues, nor are they doing any operations with ICE in the county.
Even if the police department has an illegal immigrant in custody, they will not be lending a hand to ICE in deporting that individual, which basically means they get a free pass for breaking our laws.
While there are a few folks who cross illegally who are desperately seeking escape from their oppressive home country, many of them are criminals looking to escape a Mexican prison sentence.
They come here with plans to do no good and often carry out those plans once they are securely across the border. Murders, rapes, you name it. All have been carried out by illegals sneaking across the borders.
We need the wall and strict security measures put in place to help curb this sort of behavior and help keep the bad guys at bay.
Without it, we’ll continue to be vulnerable to all sorts of crime and trouble in our communities.
