I will say the opposite- YOU as the driver STFU if we didn't say anything past hello and have our headphones on that is your cue to leave us passengers ALONE and just GET US THERE! I had one talk me to death so bad he missed his exit, had to turn around in rush hour traffic, and added $6 to my bill for the time HE wasted and not being attentive.

Sometimes i think it's deliberate. trying to butter us up for more tips. The ones that STFU and get me there quick get a 25% tip IN CASH, the ones who won't STFU just get threatened to be rated only 1-2 stars because they did not listen to my initial request "I have a bit of a headache/need to think/want to hear my music so could you please be quiet unless you have a question about the route or destination please".

I agree with shut up and drive. I am paying Uber or Lyft for driving me from Point A to Point B. I am paying you the driver a tip based on how pleasant you make that trip. So do you want to listen to me rant about what a crappy day I have been having so I end the trip feeling better and you get a large tip, or do you want me to keep quiet so I don't annoy you and get a small one?

I'm always quite, it's the drivers who don't STFU about how little they are paid.

All of you who say you tip are all full of shit liars. Hardly anybody tips on rideshare. Between that & the shitty pay, why do you think we treat you so shitty?

every time I get a Prius, it's an automatic 1*. I give out a lot of 1* anyhow, since most of the cars are raggedy, dirty and breaking down & smell. The drivers all have B.O, too.

Most drivers hate the 1st Q, but not all of them. I don't mind it.

Most of them don't like it. I always ask the passenger if he REALLY wants to know the truth or should I say something non-committal or even go as far as to tell him simply what he wants to hear.

No, I do not make a ton of money when it surges unless I pimp the system, which I do. I know how to pimp the system. Your average driver out there doesn't know what he's doing or where he's going, so he doesn't make a ton of money. Uber dicked with the surge payments to the drivers. It still charges you a mltiplier, but it gives the drivers nest to none of that or even none of it. Lyft is no better.


Yes, you get wierdos in the car, just like any other driving job. You get more wierdos than cab drivers do but less than the bus does.

No, Uber didn't GIVE them the car. Most drivers are using their own car. Many drivers do rent or lease their cars, but they still pay for gas, insurance and upkeep.


They cancelled for different reasons. In very few cases, they're like me, pimping the system. In most cases, they simply decided they didn't want to come & get you.

Most of the drivers don't know where they're going, anyhow, and the GPS isn't always accurate, so yeah, you have to give your driver directions more than you think, if you want to get where you're going, that is.


I only do this some time, mostly between my other driving jobs where I don't have to work as hard or as smart & get paid real money.
