Celebrate Fairfax $30 this Year? Herndon Festival is FREE

Nothing like a county charging irrate taxes, paying salaries in the 6 digits and over charging for basic services. All while approving developers cheap designs and increasing old roads with thousands of new cars.

Where can taxpayers of Fairfax County see the balance sheet for the Celebrate Fairfax Event?

Is there some "management firm" gouging taxpayers?

The higher fee is so we can offer free admission to my beloved undocumented immigrants. So STFU and pay up!

Most of these events are in fact free for low income families.
Parks and recreation fees are also waived. The taxpayers cover their entrance fees.

Delaware state parks for instance do not charge fees for residents on the dole yet veterans receive no discounts.

Veterans are not special people. Some of them come home messed up and do need help in getting back on their feet, but the notion that they are somehow brave and noble is a total crock to those who have to work with them.

It is extremely easy to just walk in without paying. Despite having the biggest police presence of any Fairfax event all year (I assume), it is not difficult to just mosy past the ticket counters.

Who?

I don't have time to look up all the 32 bands that are playing the FREE Herndon Festival. I can tell you that almost all the band rock it better than Celebrate Fairfax. My favorite was the Irish Band and Queen tribute band.

BETTER!

Vertical Horizon!

Vertical Horizon is an American alternative rock band formed at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. in 1990. Their high energy shows are filled with an assortment of their well-known and latest hits. The band plays off each other with an almost feverish dynamic energy, drawing the fans into a riveting musical experience at every show. Their Everything You Want Album, sold over two million copies and the title song captured the #1 spot on Billboard’s Hot 100 and Adult Top 40 charts. In February 2018 Vertical Horizon released their latest album, The Lost Mile. We are beyond thrilled to have them at the Herndon Festival, this is one performance not to be missed!

Farewell Angelina!

Farewell Angelina is an all-female country group comprised of four powerhouse vocalists, who are also dynamic songwriters and accomplished multi-instrumentalists. Their stellar blend of heart-stopping harmonies over blazing double violins and guitars has earned soaring praise across the board. They've been named among Rolling Stone's "New Artists You Need To Know," and Roughstock's "Ones to Watch" with a tour schedule to prove it. The girls have opened shows for the likes of Kenny Chesney, Old Dominion, Frankie Ballard, Jake Owen, Billy Currington, Maroon 5, and Trace Adkins, to name a few. They are currently headlining their own “Women & Wine Tour” to packed crowds across the US. The girls played over 75 shows in 2018 and were scheduled to play Herndon Festival 2018 but got rained out. We couldn’t miss the opportunity to have them back.

You nailed!

Celebrate Fairfax should really be called Tele-Marketing Fairfax. The price goes up and the fair gets worse. Not mention the parking hassles.

Why the government center? Have it at Lake Fairfax or one of the large park sites.

Celebrate Fairfax was as cheap as $10 an adult if you bought in advance. The Fun Pack, which has four tickets (two with unlimited rides) sold for as cheap as $0.

We go every year. Where else do you get a petting zoo, carnival rides, fire truck demos, dog shows, model train exhibitions, music, and fireworks. As an adult, Celebrate Fairfax wouldn't be my first hangout choice, but if you have kids, its a no-brainer.

Doh! Meant to say $60.

Paying money for stuff isn't a bad thing. Most lines for the carnival rides at Celebrate Fairfax are reasonable. Make the shindig free, and you'd be waiting two hours per ride.

Because all of the senior County employees have reserved/secure parking spots in the parking garage at the Govt. Center. They can drive their family directly to the Fair and not have to stand in line or ride the shuttle buses.

You nailed.

It would really suck if county employees, especially the board of supervisors ever had to ride a county bus.

So, if we are talking about improving the house, then in my best option would be to improve the house with the help of environmentally friendly materials. At least I did it, because I care about ecology. This company helped me with this task https://titanupgrades.com/services/solar-panels/ . This company works really professionally and in my opinion it is the best choice in this direction.

The garage is pretty much open to anyone and my family and I have parked in it for four years straight, no problems. Just get there by 11am on Saturday and your golden.

Remembered when used to use the rush hour I66 Fairfax Connector bus service, that traffic nearly always challenging those hours and even more so today, but thankfully for myself not any more since commute has changed. Each year they were always looking for extra existing Connector bus drivers to volunteer as shuttle drivers for the weekend of the fair. This year it will be even be more interesting, as contractor changing from MV Transit to Transdev with bad morale, but today the Connector has had the last few weeks getting enough drivers to cover some of the usual runs (some sickouts especially on Fridays) https://www.tysonsreporter.com/2019/05/07/fairfax-connectors-recent-driver-shortages-impacting-riders/ . Expecting this year, the board of supervisors will come in other vehicles, as especially cannot imagining them waiting for a Connector shuttle that shows up only after a long wait.

As far as the $30 fare price, forgot it. This is OPTIONAL, and so not paying the user fee to support the mostly blue liberal Board of Supervisors. And the fair had a band a year or two ago, have not gone in years anyway, which really bad mouthed religion and God, so totally no thanks. Cannot remember the band's name right now, but did post here about it here at FxUg that year around this time.

Perhaps the only thing the fair has going for it, not a so promoting LGBTQ fest - as some of the DC city festivals have become.

I was at one of these festivals. This year, during the pandemic, the festivals were held, although not in the same way as before. I was this summer at a festival that was held in the forest. It was an awesome festival where I met a lot of new friends and great people. My brother and I work for a company that organizes various events and festivals. We offer a range of outdoor stages and we also hold a large stock of sound, lighting & special effects equipment. Here is ou site www.outdoorstages.co.uk . It's such a pleasure to create a great atmosphere for all people who come to the festival and you have fun with them.
