Following Tuesday's Closed Session, the BOS directed the County Attorney to investigate the actions of American Disposal Services under the Virginia Consumer Protection Act.
As many of you know, American has failed to meet its contractual obligations to individuals and home owners associations throughout the County. This has resulted in hundreds of complaints for missed trash and recycling pick ups.
The motion directs the County Attorney to seek business records or other information to determine whether American violated the law by contracting to provide services, often after under-bidding competitors, and then being unable to deliver what it promised.
The Board requested the County Attorney brief the Board on its findings at the June 25, 2019, meeting. The County will continue to monitor missed trash pick-ups by American and other carriers. Missed trash pick-ups can be reported to
trashmail@fairfaxcounty.gov or by calling 703-324-5230.
