Well.... I've noticed recently when a police pulls you over they park like in an angle a little and before they didn't. I was wondering why they pull over cars lik tat..

Probably a safety thing. A lot of cops were hit on the side of the highways in VA last year. If they park at an angle, it makes drivers more aware of their presence and more likely to stay away.

Yep, that's why. It's safer, and easer for drivers to see the police car and thus slow down.

Its a safety thing. That and a more broad visual of the stop. Consider that when a car or cars are on the side of the road, one should slow down or move over a lane.

By parking the cruiser at an angle it increases visual and puts the nose of the cruiser closer to the traffic lane. If the cruiser is hit, it will not simply roll forward. Pushing a vehicle sideways is tougher. In what I see, that makes drivers move over or slow down which is what should occur.

Real reason: Parked at angle gives the officer front end protection when he begins to approach driver. If driver does anything aggressive (pulls gun), officer can retreat behind angled front end for cover.

Remember to SLOW DOWN or MOVE OVER when you see police on the side of the road. It's the law in Virginia.

dammn how often do you get pulled over?! I havent been pulled over in years, you sound like you get pulled over weekly.

If the car you have pulled over starts opening fire,you have the engine block to absorb most of the hits..

Yeah, I guess the engine block helps when the assailant is pointing at the windshield. :-(

Why do you think an officer comes up to your vehicle and touches the trunk??If somthing happens during that stop, the vehicle will have to officers finger prints on it and also to see if the trunk is open for possible ambush...

Whoever doesn't do that is a complete idiot, and the same goes for those dumbasses who refuse to pull-over for Ambulances and Fire engines. Playing with peoples lives simply isn't cool.

What people don't realize with the Slow Down/ Move Over law is that violating it is the equivalent of Reckless Driving, i.e. mandatory court/not prepayable.

Ive heard on the radio when a fire engine calls dispatch and call in a close follower. People just don't get it. I often have to stop and block the cars behind me. follower that just because I already see a dumb us ready to fallow the ems vehicle.

well, I guess every dumb arse on 66 is obeying the law when there is a cop with someone stopped, because they slow down to about 10 mph until they go by it...

it BLOWS! go pull some people at other times than rush hour(s) if that leaves any time in the day.

Also if a dumb ass driver hits the police car in the rear bumper while on a stop, it angles off and will not hit the officer,

And instead of rolling straight into the car in front the cruiser, it will roll into the roadway...
