The truth about Meade

Meade Skelton is a 40 year old mildly retarded man who lives in Richmond.
He is on disability, and also is supported by is very elderly father,
whom he lives with. Meade has some small talent for music: as a singer,
keyboard player, and composer. He's not "good" at it, compared to any
professional. Sometimes Meade works as a costumed character handing
out flyers for a fast food chain. He has never had any regular work.
He says he is "autistic" because that's his way of saying,
"I'm not 'tarded !!" But deep down he knows the truth.
He does function at that high level.
He can tie his shoes, drive a car, feed himself,
and hell he can even play keyboards and write music.
But he operates at the level of about a 12 year old.
He has some physical problems that are related to his
mental development issues.
That's Meade; that's the unadorned reality of him.
The reality of YOU is that you choose to make fun of
this individual, rather than have compassion for him.
You need to pick on this poor guy in order to feel better
about yourself. You are quite cruel about it.
Meade never hurt anybody.
That makes him more of a man than you.

Meade is definitely on the autism spectrum. I have met him in person. And his music is awesome.
