Wow, getting on the beltway is russian roulette. Most on ramps are clear but they offer only about 50 feet of merge area then you are in the right lane. To make it even more fun snow piles block visibility so you have to poke the nose of your car out into the right lane to see when it is semi-safe to gun it.

Of course the self-absorbed jackasses on the beltway could care less. Morons in a huge hurry still using the right lane to pass and weave in and out of traffic. Good times.

The disappearing lanes offer some real excitement as well. Traveling in the right lane? You may find you lane suddenly disappear as the uncleared 5' pile of dirty snow magically fills half or 3/4 of the lane. Think people in the middle lane will be aware of this and help you avoid smahing into the snow and wrecking - dont count on it around the beltway. We have a lot of very important people here in DC and they are far to busy to have to focus on unusual driving conditions.

PS Though not all that dangerous the secondary-street-bumpercar-bingo is quite amusing around the shopping areas...

Driving down Great Falls St. around 7 this morning, the road was pretty bad, so I was doing about 30 in a 35 zone. The asshole behind me got into the oncoming lane and sped right by me! Not a passing lane, the oncoming lane!

Coming to a dead stop in the middle of the road for no apparent reason? Perfectly logical. Somebody going to slow? Just pass them in the oncoming lane!! Fuck everything - you are the most important driver on the road and your needs supercede everything.

So here comes some guy in his 10-year-old-looking Toyota jalopie with his wife and his little girl in the back, flying past me like he's heading to a fire. My boss is making me go to work. This is rich - I was on a street were it was all mostly the same except for one lane out of four where you could see a little blacktop. Sure enough some complete fool decides she MUST drive in the tire tracks with black top. Only problem is it was the oncoming lane!

For style points it was approaching a very busy intersection and, going the wrong way in an oncoming lane she crosses three lanes to make a right turn.

Personally my wife and kids all gave her a rousing round of applause for being such a complete idiot. Impressive.

I want to thank the soccer moms who insisted on four way stop signs in residential neighborhoods. Now people in all directions have to stop causing more drivers to get stuck in snow when they try to get going again. Placing the signs in the middle of a steep hill was a stroke of genius.

Sorry about your son Wilson. Next time slow down and maintain control instead of rushing around endangering your family and the rest of us. The only thing more tragic than injuring your son because of your reckless driving would have been if you harmed someone else driving or walking. Many of us drive carefully not only to protect ourselves but to protect you and others.

Just sounds like a dumb story to me because poster said that the car spun out and almost hit a tree. Well if it ALMOST hit a tree then it didn't crash, so there would be no injuries. Plus I doubt this dumbshit poster stopped hus car amidst the "you son of a bitch and haha asshole" just to check on the driver and make sure the asshole was okay. This thread is prime target for some LOL Kitties.

Looking out the front window I saw a gaggle of tools cruzin around in their 4x4's - clearly recreational. Of the 4 vehicles 2 got stuck and had to abandon their vehicles blocking the majority of the road. Gonna screw the whole neighborhood when the plows cannot get through.

Guess they felt cool though so its all good.
