Can't wait to see you jackasses who can't drive in snow out there the next few days!

Make sure your put your hazard lights on so we are all reminded of the snow...also be sure to hang a t-shirt out the driver's side of your abandonded vehicle (all of this in 1 inch of snow, mind you).

That's what car insurance is for, huh?

... Winter Weather Advisory is cancelled...

The National Weather Service in Sterling Virginia has cancelled
the Winter Weather Advisory.

The area of low pressure which was expected to bring snow to the
area is currently located southeast of Cape Hatteras... and will be
moving towards Long Island overnight. This will cause the amount
of precipitation to be less than previously expected. In
addition... the lower levels of the atmosphere are warming... which
will cause any precipitation that does fall to change to liquid.

Every year Fairfax doesn't get cautious until a student dies due to their idiotic delay/closure policies. No one dies on the last one so expect on-time. Current forecast has no ice accumulation and about half an inch all told. People who can't drive will be in the ditch but schools will probably be on time. I guess we won't know for sure until 5a :)

School? Fuck that. My office doesn't close, and even if it did I'd still have to be there or work from home.

School??

There were several reasons that school wasn't closed last time.

Thursday and Friday were teacher workdays in FFX. There were tests that week. Closing school on Monday would have totally screwed up the schedule.

School will be closed the next time the roads are even moderately bad.

LOL two-hour delay today? WTF is that? Fairfax must be doing this on purpose to screw with people.

I thought this was interesting. It was in the forecast discussion on the NWS/Sterling website last night.

The problem was that they were trying to figure out where 2 small storms were going to track, and then have the jet stream on top of those storms pushing them around. I thought the beginning of last night's discussion summed it up pretty well:

AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE BALTIMORE MD/WASHINGTON DC
922 PM EST THU FEB 1 2007

.SHORT TERM /REST OF TONIGHT/...

UGH. MUSH BRAIN. THIS HAS BEEN ONE OF THE TOUGHEST FCSTS I'VE HAD
IN AWHILE. I DON'T TAKE PULLING DOWN ADVSRYS LIGHTLY..I RARELY DO
IT...BUT I JUST DIDN'T FEEL THINGS WERE COMING TOGETHER.

Uh...is this how meteorologists really talk when they are not on the TV or radio? This is really funny, "mush brain". Nice to know that they are human too with a sense of humor.

It wasn't icy at all around Tysons at 7 this morning. I was actually listening to that scanner site when I got up today and cops in Reston were talking about a 31 year old female that slipped and fell on ice and broke her arm, so I thought it was going to be bad. But when I got to Reston around 7:30, there was no ice at all on the roads or sidewalks.

Yeah, I didn't witness any ice on the road and that was early at 6a. It was a real surprise to accidentally find out that schools were delayed because I totally didn't expect it.

ITs snowing now, and aother storm is predicted with heavier snow later this week. Better bust out the bull bars and snow tires.

It's still cloudy and there may be some precipitation later. It will most likely be in the form of rain, and the pavement is above freezing.
