I think Trump should release his tax returns, his most recient ones, not the ones from four years ago that msnbc "acquired", right after oblabermouth releases his Harvard transcripts. The ones that show he got in because he claimed to be a foreign national.

Even with the most complex of tax returns, it should not take more several months to handle the audit. Since it is a Presidential return, the IRS should have this as a top priority.

Trump also promised to pay all the contractors who built that ridiculous “Trump Mahal” in Atlantic City. That didn’t go too well either.

They don't need a subpoena. The new Ways and Means Chair can simply ask to see the returns and the IRS will be obliged to respond. The viewing would certainly be in what's called a SCIF with limited access to others and protection from release of materials to the public. The info would likely be very helpful however in drawing up a road map for further open and closed hearings and investigations. Could be even worse than Mueller.
