Two bound-together bodies that washed up on shore along the Hudson River in New York City in a suspected suicide pact have been identified as missing sisters.
The New York Police Department says the bodies that were found Wednesday lying on rocks along the river were 22-year-old Rotana Farea and her 16-year-old sister, Tala Farea, both of Fairfax, Virginia.
They had seemingly both jumped off the George Washington bridge and neither body showed signs of trauma, but the cause of death remains unknown.

The bodies were kept together with duct tape at the waist so the pair faced each other.
Police said both were fully clothed in black jackets with fur trim and black leggings when their lifeless corpses were spotted near Riverside Park on the Upper West Side of the city.
Although authorities arrived around 2.40pm to the scene near West 68th Street and Riverside Boulevard, it wasn't until 5pm that medical examiners removed the young women from the riverbank.

duck tape is used in so many murders in NY that you have to show ID to buy it and the police make sure manufacturers have "stranded identity" so they can trace it

The sisters, Tala Farea, 16, and Rotana Farea, 22, were discovered Oct. 24 on a bank of the Hudson River, about 225 miles from Fairfax, Virginia, where they lived and were reported missing in August.
As of Tuesday, investigators still hadn't determined how they died. The sisters' bodies were taped together and facing each other, but had no obvious signs of trauma, police said. They were both fully clothed.
Their mother told detectives the day before the bodies were discovered, she received a call from an official at the Saudi Arabian Embassy, ordering the family to leave the U.S. because her daughters had applied for political asylum, New York police said Tuesday.
Saudi Arabia's Consulate General in New York said in a statement that it had "appointed an attorney to follow the case closely."
New York City police sent a detective to Virginia to learn more about the sisters. Chief of Detectives Dermot Shea said they were particularly interested in finding out what happened since they were reported missing and what led them to New York City.
"We are looking at all clues in their past life," Shea said.
The medical examiner's office was investigating the cause of death. The lack of obvious trauma appeared to rule out a theory they jumped into the river from the George Washington Bridge.
In its statement, the Saudi Consulate General said embassy officials in Washington had contacted the family and "extended its support and aid in this trying time." It said the sisters were students "accompanying their brother in Washington."
Tala and Rotana moved to the U.S. from Saudi Arabia with their mother in 2015, settling in Fairfax, a suburb of Washington D.C., police said.
Rotana was enrolled at George Mason University, but left in the spring. A George Mason spokesman called the news of her death "tragic," and said the university was cooperating with police.
Police said the sisters left their family home and were placed in a shelter after an earlier disappearance, in December 2017.
They were reported missing again Aug. 24.
Police initially struggled to identify the bodies as much of the city and the country was transfixed by another mystery: the package bombs sent to a dozen prominent Democrats and CNN's New York City bureau.
Police released sketches of the sister's faces and posted repeated calls for the public's help in identifying them on social media.
"We are out to get justice for those two girls and find out exactly what happened," Shea said.

Question to ask is "who was their father in the country's hierarchy of Saudi Arabia?" If that was a high up official who would be done away with if a family member officially defected to the US, that would explain why he might have had a reason to get them done away with to save his own hide.
Years ago, I saw this happen with an Iranian immigrant neighbor whose husband defected back to Iran when the gov't there was overthrown, and who had a close family relation still in Iran who was married to an Iranian official high up in the Iranian defense dept of their government. Her in-law's kids tasted western civilization and went to school while in in Canada, and then they wanted to defect to the US while the official's scheduled duty was over when he was posted on his tour of duty in Canada. At that time no Iranians were allowed to enter the US and the Iranian lady spent thousands of dollars but could not even find an attorney in Washington DC who could get them in here legally so they could live here with her.
She died under mysterious circumstances in DC, there is no record anywhere of what happened to her, she was not even past middle age and she kept herself in good health (vegetarian lifestyle).

It sounds a lot like how that Khashoggi guy at the Saudi embassy managed to slip and fall and accidentally dismembered himself in the process.
